Favorite Greatest Hits Packages? Does anyone have a GH favorite? Not necessarilly for the songs included on them, but because the project flows well and sounds like a cohesive project. Some of my favorites are
The Immaculate Collection - Madonna Prince - The Hits/The B-Sides Janet - Design of a Decade **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

If just "Greatest Hits" then the Jackson 5's Greatest Hits from 1971. Others seem to be posting compilation disc, in that case Star Time! PRINCE: Always and Forever

Two big standouts for me would be
Words and Music - John Mellencamp Written in Rock- Rick Springfield both are double cds, both deal with ALL eras of their careers, not just the hit days, in Ricks case you get stuff he did back in in 1969 in the band Zoot and his early 70's work. What i wont put on this list is the following ALL kiss and Donna summer collections. Reason being....edited songs! Love to love you baby is always cut down to a 3 minute song, and in Kiss's case their classic "detroit rock city" has NEVER included the real beginning, which features a car and a crash etc... "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

If you want to talk Isleys, I really love this one: ![]() I also like this one because it doesn't focus on the 70s material as much, but is still showcases their talent and skills: ![]() **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Some of my favourite "compilation" albums...

I hate when a "greatest hits" album has the tracks in a chronological order. That's so amateurish. ![]() This is my voice, my weapon of choice! ![]()

Chronological order is usally the best way to make a smoother transition in regards with the production values of songs that were recorded during different eras. Usually the opener is some bigger hit from the artist's peak of popularity, though. Often the "lesser hits" of the early days are sort of buried in the middle part, which is sort of... I don't know, a bit disrespectful.
I think "The Hits / The B-sides" was sequenced rather well. The inclusion of the Dirty Mind tracks made a really big impression on me personally when I was a teenager and got those things among the first Prince recordings I could get in my hands. So, yeah, my vote is for that compilation actually.

![]() Are you kidding? That's the way a greatest hits compilation should be ![]()

No, I'm not kidding. I don't need chronology to hear the evolution of music. This is my voice, my weapon of choice! ![]()

This is one of my favorite Greatest Hits CDs of recent years:
![]() It's in chronological order, all the hits are accounted for,the liner notes are well-written and there's even two great 'new' songs at the very end.No complaints at all.
