I don't use LastFM, but I have my list of top 50 artists, and I wanna play! It's cool to see so many artists in the lists you guys have posted so far in my list as well.

1.How did you get into no.29?

Franz Ferdinand- Like millions of others, I was totally blitzkrieged by "Take Me Out", and I wanted to hear more. Their debut album became the summer album of '04 for me, and it came at a necessary time as I had just dealt with the loss of my dad and needed something energetic and fun as a distraction.

2. What's the first song you ever heard by no.22?

Kraftwerk- "Pocket Calculator" (1981) dancing jig- A perfect song to capture my math supergeekdom.

3. Whats your favorite lyric by no.33?

George Michael- "And charity is a coat you wear
Twice a year" (Praying for Time)- What an artist!

Chromeo- Hell no! It's all fun with them- there isn't a single artist this decade that can make me smile more.

8. What is your favorite song by no.15?

Stevie Wonder- "My Eyes Don't Cry" (1987)- As a Detroit-area native, this song is an anthem to me and many others. Funk at its finest with a great self-affirming message.

9. What is your favorite song by no.5?

Janet Jackson- "This Time" (1993)- Overly dramatic and laced with strings, Janet totally kicks ass here.

10. Is there a song by no.6 that makes you happy?

Madonna- "Burning Up" (1983)- A permanent place in my all-time top 10! It has so many elements of music that I love.

Joy Division- I can't really think of a bad song that they've done! Granted, they had a limited career. sad

12. What is your favorite song by no.10?

Kylie Minogue- "Take Me With You" (1997)- Not what you would expect from Ms. Minogue, it is a 9-minute epic ballad with exotic instrumentation and subdued sensuality.

New Order- "My life ain't no holiday- I've been through the point of no return- I've seen what a man can do- I've seen all the hate of a woman too" (Vanishing Point)- The piano that is played during this part gives me chills.

19. Who is a favorite member of no.1?

Prince! biggrin

28. What is your favorite song by no.2?

Depeche Mode- I was blown away by each of the singles from Violator and exploring their earlier material only cemented my fandom.

34. What is the worst song by no.45?

Can- I probably don't know it! I've avoided their material from 74 onward because it's more commercial than their 69-73 mind-bending stuff. Listening to Monster Movie from 1969 completely changed the way I hear music.

1.How did you get into no.29? The Beach Boys. I was always vaguely a fan, but I really became enthusiastic about them after I fell in love with the High Llamas Hawaii album. Reviews compared the Llamas album to Pet Sounds/Sunflower era BBs so regularly that I felt obligated to pursue them further.

2. What's the first song you ever heard by no.22? The Zombies - Time of the Season. I'm sure I'd heard it on oldies radio before this, but I really became familiar with it through a university friend who played it obsessively.

3. Whats your favorite lyric by no.33? Young Marble Giants - I don't really pay attention to lyrics.

4. How did you get into no.49? Megadeth - I really liked Rust In Peace back when it was released, but I don't believe I'd listened to it for over a decade when Lilgish happened to mention them in a thread, which prompted me to get back into them in a hard way.

5. How many albums by no.13 do you own? Merle Haggard - Thirteen.

6. What is your favorite song by no.50? Flying Burrito Brothers - Hot Burrito #1

11. What is the worst song by no.40? The Bats - I can't really say I've heard a Bats song that I truly disliked. They can get a little same-y, but they're very consistent.

12. What is your favorite song by no.10? Soft Machine - Why Are We Sleeping

13. What is a good memory you have involving no.30? The Feelies - They were prominently featured in Something Wild, a movie that I liked very much when it was released. I should go back and watch it again to see how well it stands up to my distant impressions of it.

14. What is your favorite song by no.38? New Pornographers - Letter from an Occupant

15. Is there a song by no.19 that makes you happy? Eric Matthews - Not really. I think most of his stuff is reasonably downcast, though it's fairly peppy musically. No Gnashing Teeth is sorta happy sounding, I guess.

16. Is there a song by no.25 that makes you sad? The Apartments - Most of their stuff is pretty dour. Mr. Somewhere became slightly famous when This Mortal Coil covered it on one of their albums.

17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23? Jamie Dale Gilmore - Sante Fe Thief - one of his very best.

18. What's your favorite lyric by no.11? The Handsome Family - The Giant of Illinois
I had nothing to say on Christmas day when you threw all your clothes in the snow.

When you burnt your hair, knocked over chairs, I just tried to stay out of your way.
But when you fell asleep with blood on your teeth, I got in my car and drove away.

24. What is your favorite album by no.18? Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue, but there's not exactly a surfeit of choices here.

25. What is your favorite song by no.21? Yes - Heart of the Sunrise, though the wimp in me loves Our Song.

26. What is the first song you ever heard by no.26? Lambchop - Up With People. Their best song too, I think.

27. What is your favorite album by no.3? Pernice Brothers - The World Won't End.

28. What is your favorite song by no.2? Robert Wyatt - Sea Song

29. What was the first song you ever heard by no.32? Saint Etienne - That would be the first song on Tiger Bay...the name escapes me at the moment. Urban something, I think...

31. How many times have you seen no.17 live? High Llamas - 0

32. Is there a song by no.44 that makes you happy? Flying Saucer Attack - nope, but it's very good for zoning out.

34. What is the worst song by no.45? Prong - I can't really think of a song by them that I dislike. I haven't listened to them in a long time, though.

35. What was the first song you ever heard by no.34? Olivia Tremor Control - I bought their album without ever having heard a song by them, so the answer would be whatever the first song on that album might happen to be. I just looked it up: The Opera House

37. How many times have you seen no.42 live? Cappaquiddick Skyline - 0

39. What was the first song you ever heard by no.28? The Clean - Tally-ho...good one...

40. What is you favorite album by no.7? Bob Dylan - there are about a 1/2 dozen Dylan albums that I unreservedly love. Blonde on Blonde has been my reflexive #1 for quite a few years, but I think John Wesley Harding might now be my favourite.

41. Is there a song by no.31 that makes you happy? Hank Williams - I Saw the Light, maybe?

42. What is your favorite album by no.41? Drive-By Truckers - Southern Rock Opera, though it's got a fair amount of fat on it.

43. What is your favorite song by no.24? King Crimson - One More Red Nightmare

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I'm anxious to check out the next FF album. Hearing interesting things about the direction of it. "Take Me Out" still drags me in the back of an alley and kicks my ass. The first minute of that song has one of the greatest build-up moments I've heard this era. "Matinée" is gold, too.
