i think coldplay is dreary too, but it could be worse. at least it's bland arena-rock masquerading as alternative music, instead of something completely apocalyptic like high school musical 5 or whatever.

Mariah sells more copies in the US,but Madonna has a bigger worldwide audience.I don't think either of them have anything to worry about.Their albums always find an audience somehow.

No one would ever accuse Coldplay of being spicy or salty, but you're kidding yourself if you think Coldmeal would be anything but syrupy and sweet. wink

look, sometimes i crave a bowl of white rice with nothing added but a pinch of black pepper. sometimes bland is what hits the spot. i don't blame anyone for digging coldbeige. i'm sure i have a favorite unadorned white rice/plain oatmeal band too.

Like I said, I don't hear what's so "bland" about Coldplay. If anything, I'd say the group is sickeningly sweet (if a little mopey at times). Of course, I realize that isn't everyone's cup of tea, which is fine. I prefer Travis (although I'd readily call them blander than Coldplay), but they're relatively unknown here in the U.S.

Anyway...this list proves that artists can't rely solely on record sales anymore. They gotta get out there and tour. That's where the real money is.

At least plain rice/oatmeal is nourishing...

Coldplay is more like eating pencil shavings, if you ask me! Or wallpaper. That's it! Beige wallpaper.
