I don't mind people expressing their thoughts about MJ,but WHY DO WE NEED SEVERAL THREADS ABOUT THE SAME SUBJECT?
And MJ threads belong in the "Music: Non-Prince" forum.

Many years ago, MJ admitted supplying the National Enquirer with those now famous pictures of him in the hyperbaric chamber and the stories of him wanting to buy the Elephant Man's bones. MJ has always been in bed with the media and used them to his advantage.
Then, he writes "Leave Me Alone" about the intrusive press. Especially the tabloid press. You can't have it both ways. You can't cozy up and use the media one minute, then push them away when you're going through some hard times. Suppose the media didn't cover MJ's phony baloney marriage to Lisa Marie. MJ would have had a fit. The Oprah interview and the Diane Sawyer interview? I doubt MJ's arm had to be twisted. My point is, to blame the media for MJ's troubles is ridiculous. The media didn't make MJ have all those surgeries on his face, the media didn't make him have "slumber parties" with little boys, the media didn't say endanger your child's life. Michael Jackson messed up his own life. It's time he stopped blaming the media and lack of a childhood for his obvious problems and do like his own song said and look at the man (or whatever) in the mirror. Because that's where the real causes of MJ's problems are.

Seriously though, who the fuck is "they"??? Anyone with eyes can see the shit he did was dangerous. I would have been more horrified had I been outside that balcony myself (sans media coverage)... imagining myself chanting for ANYONE outside a hotel... I actually agree with many of the things you wrote. But at the same time,I think the media blows things out of proportion when it comes to Michael.I mean, they keep insisting that MJ is "over, finished and no longer relevent" but yet, they can't stop writing about him or obsessing over every move he makes.I remember last year, before 'Invincible' came out,EVERY critic was predicting that it would be this big awful album that would flop. They were saying this even before they heard it! This is one reason why I rarely read anything the media writes about MJ these days.I can make up my own mind.

Sort of like that BIG Terrell Owens Sharpie pen/signing of football "controversy"from a few weeks ago. These two old middle aged dudes are on one of those pre-game shows on ESPN saying" Terrell is silly...he's a jerk, ALL he wants is some attention for what he did". YET, they devote nearly their whole 30-minute pre-game show discussing this. Appears on the surface,to me,that Terrell got exactly "what he wanted".

I love how people gloss over his obvious lunacy. The dude is a crackpot that destroyed his physical body. He should not be allowed to have kids. Aside from the allegations of sexual abuse, the guy simply doesn't exhibit a high level of maturity. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I love how people pretend to be the ultimate judges of good parenting skills, especially when who they're judging they've never met to be able to observe their parenting skills. Hey! here's a fun game! Let's judge you by using all the rumours that people have started about you, to judge your character and ability to be a proper parent!!

I have to agree with everyone else here that thinks he's a freak. He deserves all the bad media attention he gets because he's always doing shit like this. He is a whining baby that should just go away. I can't believe that anyone would give this person a baby/child to raise. As I've said before, MJ had his day and now it's over and we're only left with a complete freak.

And Prince changing his name to some fucking stupid symbol and scrawling slave on his face is extraordinarily mature, right?

Based on your previous flame it seems to me that you base it on sales and what billboard has to say about it. If that's not true then why compare MJ's latest to TRC?? Why does it matter how many copies of a record were sold? It doesn't make it better, just better marketed.

Hey! here's a fun game! Let's judge you by using all the rumours that people have started about you, to judge your character and ability to be a proper parent!! I'd be the last person to get nominated for "BEST PARENTING SKILLS", but I know more than enough to dangle a young baby so far above a soft surface; let alone from a hotel balcony!! Often, I would fall asleep with my son or daughter on my chest and was always leary of them rolling off me, onto the couch and then onto the floor. We have hardwood floors, so it would not have been very comfortable, to say theleast. So what's MJ's perspective here? If one wants to show off a child the best and most sensible way is to have viewers come to the baby's crib or in his stroller? This will be a security nightmare, but MJ is playing it for PR ain't he? So he should be prepared to bear the cost. Finally what's the deal with the sheet over the baby's face. That seems usually harsh and mean. What point did it serve? test

Dangling a baby out a window is an indicator of his parenting skills wouldn't you say? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It was in reference to your "MJ's had his day" comment. I can't agree with that considering Invincible sold 7 million at retail on the back of one hit single.

Press can beat him down all they like with stories about his face, children and any other nonsense they want to drag up, he still shifts units, even without Sony's help. I predict his next album (on a new label) will do better. saleswise

The reason the press still follows MJ is cause he's like a bad auto wreck and we all know how much the press loves those.
Musically, he's done. Movie career? Probably closer to Madonna's, if it happens at all. MJ really is like a walking auto wreck that gets bloodier by the minute. The press will always follow something like that. MJ's future seems to be filled with bizarre appearances here and there, a la Latoya Jackson. And the press was right about Invincible. It was pathetic. For a twenty-something pop star it might pass muster, but for a 44 year old supposed musical genius and living legend, there was nothing spectacular or genius about it. And it's just more reasons why I hate to see Prince and MJ compared. Prince is a musician, about the music. MJ has just become a walking disaster, imo.

When was the last time one of Prince's albums had something spectacular or genius about it? Oh yeah, 1987. Granted, he's a fantastic live performer but in recent years the only album that comes close to his 80's brilliance is The Truth.
