JANET JACKSON - DESIGN OF 1 DECADE AND THEN SOME 1993/2006 ACORDING TO MIKEMATRONIK

Well...I got bored. So why not make my greatest hits of Janet's Virgin era. I tried only to choose my favorites. All in one cd.

I think the 2nd part is very heavy on the baby making ballad...but fuck it (literally)!

And yes...Free Xone is a masterpiece! And the transition un2 R&B junkie is like "buttah"!

I listen to Janet very often, but have been in Janet overdrive lately in anticipation of the show next week. Last night, I fell in love with "Throb" all over again.

Throb is really underrated!

And I can't believe she didn't put Weekend on a cd! It would fit so nicely on Discipline

I would have left off I Want You personally, but otherwise nice choices
This just reminds me of how many really great song Janet has!

Oh and there was nothing from Discipline worthy of the list? lol
If you will, so will I

thank her stupid fans for weekend not being on 20 YO. They're young and they just don't appreciate the freestyle/electro sound from the 80's, which suits janet really well.

I can't believe the jusblaze remix of just a little while was not the final version. If it was, I don't think anyone would have cared about the superbowl, that song is just too good to be ignored.

I like "Weekend", but my favorite Janet dance songs are the more housey ones. I would loooove to hear Janet do some incredible deep house tracks!

I really like that version. And I think it's not a remix but the original version of the song. Then Dallas "fucked for tracks" Austin re-did it.

Also the b-sides of the damita jo era are sweet

great playlist! I'm going to have a listen to it. I'll let you know my thoughts on the order. I'm intrigued with the sick freexone/r&b junkie transition that you speak of. smile

I wonder what Virgin will call her GH compilation? "the virgin years"? (already been used on the AFY DVD disc....but it wouldn't surprise me)

You're crazy for not loving "That's The Way Love Goes". Otherwise, good picks.

I'm a little more strict about sticking to just the singles and big hits when making a 'best of', so it's interesting to see what people come up with.

I'd eliminate both "That's the Way Love Goes" and "Whoops Now" (two songs I love) just because they were on the last compilation. Here's my first pass:

1. If
2. This Time
3. Where Are You Now
4. Any Time, Any Place (R. Kelly Mix)
5. And On and On*
6. You
7. Together Again
8. What About
9. I Get Lonely (TNT Remix Edit)
10. All for You
11. Just a Little While
12. All Nite (Don't Stop)
13. Put Your Hands On*
14. R&B Junkie
15. Could This Be Love*
16. Daybreak
17. Enjoy
18. Weekend*
19. Days Go By*

Five of my favorites are non-album tracks (and there were some more that just missed). Janet, stop getting rid of good songs! The 20 Y.O. outtakes are better than 90% of the album! disbelief

J should do what the Minogue sisters do from time to time and just collberate with various DJ and dance groups and do the underground thing.

I'm currently updating my own version of this after seeing her show Thursday night.

The ast time I updated it was.... well, So Excited was the last track on it. But I'm streamlining it as well.

I'm thinking of calling it "from Control to Discipline and everything in between" or something extremely corny like that.

trying to decide whether i want it to be 2 really tight discs, or 3 with some extra fun along the way. (even on ipod playlists, i try to stick to the constraits of what would fit on standard discs.)

the previous incarnation contained that stuff. honestly, though, when i'm listening, i don't want to slog through those first 4-6 tracks to get to the good stuff.

You mean a previous incarnation you made, right? 'Cause Design of a Decade completely ignores them. Anyway, for my money, "Say You Do," "Young Love," and "Don't Stand Another Chance" would be a great start to a Janet compilation. Rhythm Nation 1814 and Control are definitely my 2 favorite albums by Janet, so I suspect the first disc I made would be just '80s tracks.

Personally SoE is a bit of a letdown. Maybe because of Janet's vox in it. Still I was more found of the hip-hop remix that she used on the performances...strange coming from me
