I have championed my love for Zapp/Roger for years on this forum. I have written several threads about cuts like "More Bounce", "So Ruff, So Tuff", "Itchin' For Your Twitch", "I Wanna Be Your Man", and "Be Alright". One of my all time fave artists.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

I picked up a comp earlier this year and really enjoyed it. I'm definitely late to the party, which is really inexcusable because I love synth funk. I'm hoping to pick up some studio albums on CD, but they are hard to find!
Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

"And I thank you Prince, cause you sound so good to me. Get on down"

Of course Prince' DJ was playing nothing but synth-funk at an aftershow last year, which consisted 50% of Zapp/Roger. Best pre-show music there is for a Prince aftershow!

Got me HYPED!

Roger was one of the funkiest rhythm players out there in the tradition of Jimmy Nolan (James Brown), Glen Goins (Parliament), Sugarfoot (Ohio Players), and Danny Webster (Slave)

Terry 'Zapp' Troutman is still alive and is now the front man of the band.

Larry Troutman shot Roger and then himself in a business dispute.

Yeah, I know. However, Larry was just as important as Roger. He co-wrote and co-produced most of the stuff with Roger.

He also wrote the "beautiful" "As We Lay" for Shirley Murdock.

I don't know if I would say Larry was just as important as Roger. While I don't deny him his contributions, I don't recall him having any input on Roger's solo albums (The Many Facets Of...., Unlimited, Bridging The Gap....did I forget any wink ? ) which I rank just as highly as Zapp I through The New Zapp IV U. (Zapp Vibe was very meandering IMO). Not to mention, the other stuff Roger produced like Sugarfoot's "Sugar Kiss" which I love and think is highly under-rated.

It's clear Roger was the main brains behind the outfit.

I don't think Larry had anything to do with Roger's albums either. I think he played and sang backgrounds, but that was it. That's probably why they had separate projects.
