New "neo soul" music

I know I said I was gonna stop discussing new music around here because the topics seem to receive so much negative backlash but I decided to put some folks up on this sista. Her name is Maiyasha. She's got a cool little style. She kinda reminds me of Irene Cara a little bit in her vocal styling.
Anyway, her track is nice and so is her voice and look. Plus, its always good to actually hear guitar in a song these days that's not acoustic and buried in the mix. The song is called Wanna Be. Its nice to see an Indie chick come up in the game.

You and I don't always agree on music, but I like her what I have heard so far. Is her CD out? I would buy it.

Very nice.

The Plus List...

1) She comes off like an adult woman.
2) Sings in tune.
3) The "Rockish" element of this particular song.
4) Didn't conform to the box (music/persona/look) that most current Black female R&B/Pop artists seem to be in.
5) And most importantly, she's from BROOKLYN!!! wink

...thumbs up!

Damn, I did not know she was a singer too. When I clicked on the video, I immediately recognized her as plus-sized model, although I never knew her name. I had to google her name to make sure I wasn't mistaken because she looks so thin in the Wanna Be video. She must have lost a lot of weight. It's hard to believe that she is a plus-sized model. eek

Anywho, I really dig Wanna Be. I like her style. She sorta sounds like Rhiann Benson.

Thanks 4 sharing. In the last week I've discovered:
Maiyasha
Monica Blaire
&
Jazmine Sullivan.

I'm a happy camper right about now. Nothing like QUALITY new music.
