New Jack Swing Battle: "Motownphilly" vs. "Feels Good"

Which is the better New Jack anthem?

I'm going with 'Feels Good' on this one.

Neither would qualify for "New Jack Swing Anthem" status though. But Motownphilly was a better overall cut while Feels Good was VERY close to filler status. And I do mean VERY close lol.

"Feels Good" headbang I don't even like "Motownphilly" at all. It's a noisy,over-produced mess of a song.

I still love "Feels Good". Have to be honest, though, one of the only reasons I picked Motownphilly was because of its name...and because I was into the "East Coast Family" at the time. cool

I think the samples and changes in it is what makes it superior to Feels Good.

First of all, you can't have a New Jack Swing anthem without Teddy being involved.

Anyway, I'm going with "Feels Good." It's just a better song -- love that bassline! Both albums had better singles; for instance, I'd take "The Blues" over both of these.

Damn, am I the only one that felt "Feels Good" was ALMOST a filler cut? eek

I mean, it was a cool little diddy but not much else. Simple lyrics. Fun lyrics, I guess? But so much fluff from them.....but then again, that was their vibe on that record. They didn't really get their "Grown ASS Man" on until Sons of Soul. On The Revival they were just "Grown Man". lol

I believe 3T have said as much themselves. Of course, there's a reason it's (arguably) their biggest hit -- with a groove like that, who needs much else?

They made better albums later, but the big 4 singles from The Revival -- "The Blues," "Feels Good," "It Never Rains," and "Whatever You Want" (my favorite) -- are as good as anything they've ever done.
