"Miles Away"

I just woke up from a fuzzy dream
You never would believe the things that I have seen
I looked in the mirror and I saw your face
Your looked right through me,you were miles away
All my dreams they fade away,I'll never be the same
If you could see me the way you see yourself
I can't pretend to be someone else

music this is one of my new favorite Madonna songs.

Heartbeat!
With Dance Tonight and Beat Goes On being very close behind. They're the three best songs she's done in ages.

I've said this before and I'll say it again...

the 4-song sequence that begins with "She's Not Me" and ends with "Dance 2Night" is excellent.....a frenzied, hypnotic dance music suite. All four of these songs have an 80s retro-feel."Dance 2Nite",in particular, sounds just like early 80s R&B.

YES! I love it too. When we first had the snippets (you could only hear the first part/song I thought It would be an awfull filler. But when I first heard the second part I was riding in my car and I thought: WHAT THE F...!?! This is, indeed, Incredible!

Exactly! I wonder how many poor souls are missing out on this song because the damn slow first half goes for too long! The only reason I discovered it is because I left the track playing accidentally one day!

Hard Candy is terrible! It's by far the worst Madonna album. None of the songs are even close to classics!

Imo,these should have been the singles (in this order)...

*"4 Minutes (a wise choice for the first single and it did extremely well)
*"Beat Goes On" (some radio stations on The East Coast are already playing this song.It has alot of hit potential and should have been released at the beginning of summer)
*"Miles Away" (a perfect fall/autumn single)
*"Heartbeat" (a nice way to end the Hard Candy/Warner Bros. era, with a fan favorite).

I'd rank her studio albums this way:

1. Like a Prayer
2. Ray of Light
3. Madonna

All perfect to the core!

4. Confessions on a Dancefloor
5. American Life
6. Erotica
7. Bedtime Stories

Not perfect, but pretty damn close!

8. True Blue

Let down by 2 bad tracks, but otherwise a classic.

9. Like a Virgin
10. I'm Breathless

Decent, but a lot of filler.

11. Music

Disappointing, although there are still a few songs that grab me.

12. Hard Candy

It makes me embarrassed to call myself a Madonna fan!

Yes, me too. And I'm glad I did. When I see many fans being upset or dissapointed by the whole album I feel sorry for them.

I still listen to HC a lot and I think it's her best pop record ever! For real! I never was too keen on LAP, because I only embraced three of the tracks (the title, Express Yourself and Keep It Together). I found "Love Song" totally garbage and songs like Cherish or Dear Jessie make me cringe.

I like Bedtime Stories as well. It has a lot of smiliarities to HC. Not musically, but shefelt the need to work with hip and commercial producers but many fans dislike the album.

I'll never understand how sooo many fans hate Don't Stop. She recycled Everybody lyrics but it has a nice melody.

I haven't seen too many fans who hate everything on it."Heartbeat",for example,is one song that most fans seem to like. It's clearly a fan favorite."Devil" is another one.

eek

To her credit,Madonna doesn't go this route everytime. She doesn't always work with the "hot" producers and the guest rappers everytime. So I have no problem with her making a big,commercial,radio-friendly album from time to time.I appreciate the fact that she tries new things and doesn't repeat herself. It would have been really easy for her to make 'Confessions On A Dancefloor Part 2' with Stuart Price but I'm glad she didn't.

I'll never understand how sooo many fans hate Don't Stop. She recycled Everybody lyrics but it has a nice melody.

"Don't Stop" is the one filler track on 'Bedtime Stories'.She should have rejected that song and used "Your Honesty" or "Let Down Your Guard" instead.

I hate Hard Candy because it barely seems like a Madonna record. She sounds like a guest on many of the songs, or worse, bored ("Dance Tonight"). Of course, it's a matter of taste, but I can NOT get with Timberlake and I find the songwriting to be lazy at best. Even the best songs to me have issues. "Give It 2 Me" is bogged down with the silly "get stupid" lyric, while "She's Not Me" has too many awkward transitions. "Beat Goes On" is probably the best of the bunch, but again she sounds like a featured artist. "Hearbeat" has potential, but her singing leaves a lot to be desired (the only waaaannnnn). The rest is either drenched in Timbertwat or sounds flat (or sometimes downright annoying!). I can't express how sad I was to hear this album. But the great thing about Madonna is that she is never too comfortable staying in one place, so I know I'll like the next album better.

I'm on two Madonna-forums and most fans complain everyday how the Hc era and the new tour suck!

Don't Stop... but it's not a bad song, meaning, something with no melody?!

I find Let Down Your Guard much worse, Your Honesty is okay. But how about replacing "Love Won't Wait" with Bedtime Story?? I lve Love Won't Wait!!

I don't have scathing hatred for everything on it, but I do for at least half of it. sad

At least with Bedtime Stories, the transition seemed natural. She still seemed like she played a vital role in the creation of the songs and the atmosphere, and the music came out sounding like Madonna music. I'm not a fan of an artist treading water, but I would have much preferred a Confessions Part 2 to the vile, cheap, desperate cash-in that Hard Candy is. The album is out of the top 100 in the US, and I hope she gets the message.

"Don't Stop" is the one filler track on 'Bedtime Stories'.She should have rejected that song and used "Your Honesty" or "Let Down Your Guard" instead.

I like "Don't Stop"! In fact, there's nothing on Bedtime Stories that I don't enjoy, samey as some of it may be.
