My favorite is "Heartbeat". I'm listening to it right now. music
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

honestly, what's the difference between pandering to one crowd or another.

Confessions was pandering. Hard Candy is pandering. they're just pandering to different audiences. they're both great and they both suck in their own specific pandering ways.

to answer the question, probably the Beat Goes On or Dance 2Night. possibly Incredible.

The difference lies in the fact that Madonna still sounds like she cares about the songs on Confessions. It's not that Madonna "sold out" (I find that concept very funny considering that she has been a pop artist first and foremost throughout her entire career), it's that the album sounds like an afterthought to her.

Her albums may have some songs that are not commercial, but they are still big commercial albums - they are created with the intention of generating massive record sales.

This is like saying Like a Prayer is not a big commercial album simply because Act of Contrition is on there lol

Okay, that's right!!! lol

BUTT... there's nothing wrong with being commercial. Stevie, The Beatles were DAMN comercial as well.
As long as you have at least a BIT of artistic integrity it's oka ybeing commercial.
And that's the point with HC. Many fans complain she lost her integrity, she did it for the US market, for money.

But it's not that Madonna has been an undergroudn artist before. rolleyes

I think it's hilarious when people accuse her of 'selling out'. How can you 'sell out' more than Madonna? lol

She's Not Me is my favorite in a catchy, poppy, funky way

but Miles Away is the winner in a deeper way (heart expanding, encompassing, profound in its simplicity, and honest)

I do agree with this assessment. I'm not a fan of the AMG review of this album, but they did get one thing right when they called it "lifeless". She phoned this one in.

"Candy Shop". It's just so much fun and such a great Madonna dance track.

What's the deal with the album anyway...no plans for another actual pop single? Seems like Madonna is getting worse and Warners is just getting dumb and lazy about trying to capitalize on Madonna leaving.

When I see many fans being upset or dissapointed by the whole album I feel sorry for them.

I haven't seen too many fans who hate everything on it."Heartbeat",for example,is one song that most fans seem to like. It's clearly a fan favorite."Devil" is another one.

To her credit,Madonna doesn't go this route everytime. She doesn't always work with the "hot" producers and the guest rappers everytime. So I have no problem with her making a big,commercial,radio-friendly album from time to time.I appreciate the fact that she tries new things and doesn't repeat herself. It would have been really easy for her to make 'Confessions On A Dancefloor Part 2' with Stuart Price but I'm glad she didn't.

I'll never understand how sooo many fans hate Don't Stop. She recycled Everybody lyrics but it has a nice melody.

"Don't Stop" is the one filler track on 'Bedtime Stories'.She should have rejected that song and used "Your Honesty" or "Let Down Your Guard" instead.

I finally saw that 2004ish documentary and "Your Honesty" is a song that they dance to at the closing party. It's so strong as a dance track. And "Let Down Your Guard" is just fun and sexy.

"Miles Away" is my fave music.

no, I think Michael Jackson stands for that. Madonna took risks. Almost all of her albums have songs that are NOT commercial. Think oft the American Life or Music album, about songs like Astahnga or Mer Girl from Ray Of Light.

What about "Blood On The Dancefloor"? However s*itty people may think it is, at least he tried something a little different with that one. That is his least commercial album to date. I do agree that Madonna takes risks though, all those songs you listed are good examples of this. I'll also add "Paradise (Not For Me)" to that list. She definitely took a risk with that one and I think it's one of her best songs to date. An underrated gem.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

that album was just released to fullfill his contract or whatever. I'm sure MJ HATED the idea of letting remix songs like Earth Song. Especially when he foudn out how shitty he remixes are!
As an appetizer he gave some OUTTAKEs from Dangerous and HIStory away...
anyway, this has nothing to do with daring or art...

btw, how would we be glad if he'd do this again. Imagine, 5 new songs!!
