Timberlake’s musical career is to be shot from this angle. Further probing may prove as flammable as Lil’ Wayne wearing a guitar on his back.

==

I will give him some credit, though, he was one of the best non-comedic SNL guests ever. He clearly has a gift for timing and entertaining that few possess.

And he does have some great singles. Britney Spears even has "I'm a Slave 4 U". You just need to be able to afford the best songs and producers.

And if your branding sells well enough, you can even be seen as a producer.

Timberlake had nothing to do with that...that was all Pharrell and Chad.

Anyway, I wish he'd take a longer hiatus...another 3 years to make people actually miss him. This is just overkill having Beyonce, JT and Xtina all coming back so soon. ZZzzzzz.

Believe me, I wasn't implying anything of the kind. wink

I was only drawing an equivalence of the economics of Britney and Justin and giving credit to other people.

I've watched video footage of the making of Justified and it consisted of Pharrell trying out chords on the piano while Justin was in the control room hanging out with guests. Sometimes he would sit beside Pharrell but mainly I did not see... ANY input from Mr. Timberlake. That was like 6 years ago and he was still really young enough to have just begun his journey, and I haven't seen the making of FS/LS but something tells me Justin is believing his own hype taking the reins with this upcoming album. neutral

Most the stuff was written by Pharrell and Chad BEFORE assembling Justified, as it was stuff rejected by Michael Jackson. The rest of the album was fodder/filler.

The singles off FS/LS are still amazing. People that like Prince and/or Michael Jackson and do not like those singles are prejudiced by his sure sometimes offensive behaveour. Still, he took the popular torch off peeps like Prince AND Michael Jackson and reaches an international arena, instead of most US singular R&B blabla.
And Michael Jackson wrote SOME of his own hits, but certainly not all. So stop trying to make draw conclusions Timberlake isn't in the same arena as MJ because of that, cuz he is; catering music to youngsters, no pun intended.
He loses respect becuz of he is young and enjoying his privileges. I just like the singles and leave the hating to the peeps that feel that going off like that enpowers them.
Rock Your Body might be a Michael Jackson reject, it still rocks MY world, just like the first two songs of Jordan Knights' record; the Jam & Lewis jams 'Give It To You' and 'A Different Party'. Some people will just not let young guys grow up and make kewl music.
[Edited 9/14/08 16:03pm]

Now, one cannot compare JT to MJ! But Jt and Jordan Knight play in a different league as well!!

MJ wrote not ALL ofhis songs, yes. (my fave of him is Rock With You, by Rod Temperton) but some of his GREATEST! And when MJ was 28 he wrote most of teh BAD songs.
With 24, JT never would have come up with a second Billie Jean, Beat It...

Btw, is that true, that the Neptunes offered the songs to MJ? Was that ever confirmed by anyone??

very good point. The footage shows that JT sits next to PW, who plays and sings the songs for him. JT confirmed he was stoned while maing Justified. Anyway, he might have written some lyrics. But yes, the melodies sound pretty PW!!

I disliked him much more before his workd with Madonna. I'm a Madonna fan and found he and Timbaland did a good job with her. I'd kill to listen to the other 5 songs, One of those may appear on Shock Value 2! And hopefully lots of B-sidesor leaks will follow!

But I still like his music more like Usher, Ne-Yo... you know, all those MJ wannabes.

Michael was crazy to turn down "Rock Your Body".That's an excellent song....very retro/Off The Wall-sounding.I think it's better than any of the uptempo songs that made it onto 'Invincible'.

Ugh, I know! JT did it well, but I just can't imagine how amazing MJ would've sounded! Although the "have you naked" line probably wouldn't have worked well...

i think Mj would have reworked the lyrics. He wouldn't sing about smoking weed, either.

BTW, JT is really arrogant. He once said, he NEVER EVER did or had to masturbate because he could get it whenever and with whoever he wants it!!!!!

Do you think it's true? I mean, even Madonna and George Michael do masturbate, so I guess, many people do it.

Or do you think Jt was joking?

I knew people in their 30's and 40's that loved rock your body and this was around martin bashir time. Can you imagine if that was mj single instead and kicking ass on the charts? And then maybe superbowl wouldn't have happened!

lol I fucking hate JT the minute he speaks...singing he's fine...when he talks I just wanna slap him.

He was an incredibly ugly child and teenager, I doubt he hardly got any action and I really don't know what Britney ever saw in him.

When does Rock Your Body talk about weed?

clapping No one will cheer as loudly as I will when his star fades, his videos aren't played and he bitches about it. He is perhaps the phoniest "artist" I've ever heard. Few artists bring the fangs out in me quite like Timbertwat.

Exactly! He should learn from Janet, after she departed from Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-you stick with a successful formula-otherwise, it's going in the toilet. Surely JT doesn't think that he is THAT good, cause he aint.

I still disagree. Producers have a certain time they are hip and then they're over. A pop star can beat that natural law when he changes his producers regulary.
Jt worked with Timbaland since 2002! That's long! It's time to start something new.
The only thing I regret is, that I thought the Neptunes could do really god stuf with Jt again! Now they have to work with Nicole Scherzinger etc...

That song is good but nothing special. 'You Rock My World' from Invincible is a much better song.
Anyway, at his age and point in career he shouldn't be accepting those type of songs.

Yeah, I'll admit You Rock My World has aged AMAZINGLY, it sounds so classy today, I just love it.

Whereas Rock Your Body just reminds me of when I was 13 lol

Rock My Body is a nice chirpy song with blah vocals. There is no suspension at all in that song, no distinctive hook, is rythmically lackluster and no interesting beats unlike 'You Rock My World'. The vocals on You Rock My World are far superior ( you gonna argue with that?) and the song is technically better. You may prefer Rock My Body but it's not a better song technically or sonically.
That is all.

clear, YRMW is vocally so much better, but RYB is more fun, more uptempo and YRMW is somehow chliched. I think one could predict when and how the middle 8 would appear and stuff... And doing the dance test, RYB is better.
