Sounds like a big budget video to me. No mention of Pammie, tho'. Really? "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."

She dug the song, especially the title, but she wanted to rewrite one of the verses to make it raunchier but MJ said no so she said no. I'll try to find the video if I can. I think Madonna also wanted MJ to cut his hair short and change up the old single glove, white socks look, but MJ wasn't having any of that. [Edited 9/12/08 9:19am]

MJ will have problems with the new status quo of MTV. Noone's gonna sit and watch a video that lasts longer than 4 Minutes... and exepnsive videos don't make money anymore.
I think I realized this when Madonna's videos started to go downhill. Lord knows she could have spent a fortune on them, but didn't. She is the MTV poster girl from 1983 and is one of the people that you wonder, did MTV make Madonna a star or did Madonna make MTV worth watching? (ditto MJ)

What makes you think people would be willing to put aside their apprehension and fear and distrust of Michael Jackson to even give him the chance to forge a comeback for the music video format, assuming he could actually do it? I do think it's been long enough now. He made the right decision by completely bowing out of the public eye and he's probably had a chance to actually mature as a person due to no touring, promo etc just time with his kids. At the end of the day, he was found innocent and I'm sorry but you can't argue with that. Whatever happened to the books those jury members were writing? I know he was found innocent by the jury, and I do believe he is. But the problem is, most people don't. Pedophilia issues aside, his other strange behaviour has been pretty off-putting for a lot of people too. The current generation -the ones who are the target market -don't know him as anything but as just some freak. That's a pretty big hurdle to jump. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Michael Jackson cannot bring back music videos because if he's in the video, all anyone will talk about is the way he looks. And, no. People have not gotten over it.
He's got a chance internationally, however. Just not in the United States. If he focuses on that and just says forget the U.S., he'll be fine. But, if he wants to regain his popularity in America, he's going to be disappointed.

If he is going to try to swing a comeback, Europe and Asia should probbaly be his focus. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I always said he should go for Europe and Asia first before going back to America because that way, he'll have a Tina Turner-like comeback and still be respected musically for his legendary work. That's just the way I see it though.

Even when YRMW came out and everyone was hating on his face, the song still did insanely well (not in the US but everywhere else). Like I said before, I put one small picture of him as my avatar and got a heap of (American) posters saying how much they wanted him back. It's been almost 4 years since the trial now and who knows, maybe his face has settled down a bit too? If he has an amazing stylist, innovative and creative music, maturity and a hot video, I really don't see where he can go wrong.

Anybody can get a hit regardless, it's just how you the artist approach it. Mike got a top ten hit with "You Rock My World" in '01 because the song created a lot of good buzz. I forgot how it dropped though but it did get to the top ten, lol.

I can't tell why, but I really love that part of your post. You know what I mean, right? Like I think he had one big operation between 2000-2005 that really made his face look ghastly but maybe it's not so bad now? So I'm scraping the barrel, yes, I just want a comeback!

I hope he's not thinking of a big spectacle video. 10 minutes long, $100 million dollars, never-used before FX, special remix version of the song... blah blah blah. One of Michael's biggest problems is that he thinks we're still in the 80s.Videos are actually obsolete these days. There's no need to spend a fortune on a big-budget video that won't even get shown very much. Don't you mean 90s? He was still holding it down with 'Remember the Time', 'Black Or White' etc. I think when MJ made Liberian Girl it was to be the parody of himself when it comes to celebrity cameos, although that's before he actually started doing it. It was yet another big, lengthy "mini-movie" with lots of gangsters and dancing but nobody really cared. It didn't really make much of an impact. Not because it wasn't good,it's just that things are different now.Videos used to be pop music events but those days are long gone. YRMW failed because he'd already done a video like that before and it's called Smooth Criminal. Plus, people were still getting used to his face and weren't more molestation stories coming out then...? If he comes up with a new, fresh idea and amazing dance moves then he can call it a comeback. On another forum I'm joined to, I put one small picture of MJ doing the Smooth Criminal lean and you wouldn't believe the amount of private messages I got saying things like "I miss his videos!" "Your avatar makes me want MJ back!" "I love him!". If you ask me, because pop has been SO bland this year, if there was ever a time for a comeback it'd be either end of the year or early next year. You could also put it this way : standards are so low now, MJ could easily come back with a semi interesting video. You took the words right out of my mouth, exactly how I feel. purplesweat said: meow85 said: I think you and I really do come from different planets.
