Invincibble never really resonated with me - and i agree with the general feeling that the uptempo numbers were weak. They've also dated pretty badly. that said - some of the slower numbers and ballads are MJ at his best.

The only reason Invincible has sold less than Michael's other album, is because it's too long. If you would cut the album down to 10 songs, it would be wayyyyy better.

Heartbreaker, Break of Dawn, You Rock My World, Whatever Happens, Butterflies, Speechless, Don't Walk Away, Cry, Heaven Can Wait, You are my life would have made a super album.

I would say the real reason for the "failure" was the lack of promotion. IF you compare it with the History album with statues all over the world, 9 great music videos, performance at award shows, world tour, posters everywhere, it is obvious that Invincible did not get promoted at all (whoever is to blame for it). I don´t think many people even knew he released another album unless they followed new music. I don´t remember any hype about Invincible at all. even the Rock My World video did not get played that much. I´ve seen the full version only twice on MTV. They played the short version for about a month and that was it.

I think length and promotion do have something to do with it - but you still cant escape the fact that the album seriously lacked in those amazing MJ moments. While some of the ballads were nice there was nothing on there that made me go wow. Even HIStory (and not so great record also) had some amazing moments on there (Stranger in moscow, TDCAU) and i think this album was lacking of any true MJ moments.

I think there are at least two amazing MJ moments - Butterflies and Whatever Happens.

Fly Away should've been on the album instead of IJCSLY

No, I love IJCSLY. I would love both songs on the album.

I just can't stop loving you was like the fourth best song on Bad. Fly away is terrible. That's why it was left out.

eek Not on the copy I have! lol

Let's see... "Leave Me Alone," "Another Part of Me," "Man in the Mirror," "Liberian Girl," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Dirty Diana"... nope, definitely not fourth best.

eek Where is Smooth Criminal. No way 'Another Part of Me' is No 2.

This is the order:

Man in the Mirror worship
Leave Me Alone worship
Smooth Criminal worship
IJCSLY biggrin
Bad biggrin
Another Part of Me biggrin
TWYMMF wink
Dirty Diana wink
Liberian Girl neutral
Speed Demon neutral
Just Good Friends neutral

How is Dirty Diana and Liberian Girl that low in ranking? Change it now! lol

I was naming my favorites (not in any specific order). I love "Smooth Criminal," but I think it's overrated (but better than IJCSLY). FWIW, I like all of the tracks to some degree.

IMO:

1. Leave Me Alone
2. Man in the Mirror
3. Liberian Girl
4. Another Part of Me
5. Dirty Diana
6. Speed Demon
7. The Way You Make Me Feel
8. Bad
9. Smooth Criminal
10. I Just Can't Stop Loving You
11. Just Good Friends

as much as I laugh at I just can't stop loving you, it's still infectious and no one should toy with bad, the flow start to finish is perfect in my opinion.
