I was just wondering about that the other day. Thanks for the info SoulAlive! As for Michael not showing up, that's just low. And I have heard those rumors before about MJ not paying his family or something involving him seperating himself from the family. Whatever the case is, I hope they can get it together and do at least one more CD together. It would mean a whole lot to loads of fans all over the world but they need to take care of their mess at home first. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Nice pics. I like seeing the whole fam (minus Jermaine) together and I don't miss Michael's absence anymore. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Yeah, I don't mind Jermaine not being there. To be honest, I smiled when I saw Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Randy together with Janet, Rebbie, La Toya and Joe and Katherine. When they were asked where Mike was, Marlon joked Michael could've been in Egypt somewhere riding on a camel!

To be honest, I don't believe those rumors that MJ owes them money, the Jackson 5 music is not in Michael's name, it's in Universal Motown's. Plus both MJ and Jermaine didn't show up. You wonder why Jermaine, who was always there at these type of events, didn't show up.

Can you imagine the amount of copies Destiny and Triumph has sold since 91 (when MJ gained control of the catalog)? **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The media kept saying Jackson 5 stuff and people automatically assume it was the Motown stuff, lol.

If Mike's family is like mine then they are pains in the ass, and I wouldn't show either. Besides the awards ceremony was BS put together by Janet's boyfriend in the hopes of getting some juice off of an MJ appearance.

And have already been released in the UK - I got em on release date - nice sounding but nothing special, (not even a mention of re-mastering in the notes) nice linear notes and pics & original 12" versions as bonus tracks.

just to play devil's advocate, perhaps the reason mj didn't show is because all the attention would have been on him and maybe, just maybe, he didn't want that.
the jacksons were a group, and the other brothers contributed to the success of the group, not just mj. they proved they were capable of making the transition from a "boy band" - though some of the j5's material was beyond that genre - to young, respected musicians as the jacksons. even then, i don't think they always got their props. of course, to the press, mj was always the focal point in and out of the group, and it would have been no different that night. it would have been all about him, and particularly his troubles in recent years because the press love to hate him. i hate to say it, but mj would have been a distraction rather than a positive presence, and given the occasion, i think it was right for him to stay away. as for jermaine, as a songwriter, he wasn't part of the group when the rest were writing the songs that took them to another level of fame, so maybe that's why he didn't show up.

You're probably right, but I think he uses that excuse too frequently.I remember in 1984,he didn't even appear in the two videos from the 'Victory' album ("Torture",in which he sings the entire second verse, and "Body").As I see it,this award is for THE JACKSONS which means every member. He seems to have no problems appearing with his brothers when it's on his terms (the 2001 Madison Square Garden celebration concert).

I got them already from Amazon UK. Came out last week here. As for Michael owing his brothers royalties? Erm, royalties are up to the record companies to distribute. I highly doubt they just distribute money to lead singers of bands and trust them to share it with the rest  I know he's not speaking to Randy because Randy basically fucked up his affairs even more during the trial and signed agreements on his behalf that hadn't been approved. That's his own fault for giving Randy power of attorney though - since when has anyone other than Janet been any good with money in that family?
