DID JAM AND LEWIS GIVE CREDIT...

TO NIGERIAN ARTIST ONYEKA ONWENU?

Check Karyn White's "One Wish" produced by Jam and Lewis...

And Onyeka's "One Love"...

Sounds like a total rip to me...

hmmm

Yeah, the bass pulse is almost identical although in a different key.

I find it ironic that the flavor of the Caryn White tune sounds more African than the real African tune does.

It's like the Nigerian artist is toning the ethnic elements down to cross over and grab some other markets ears.

If the Flyte Tyme Twins didn't give props it sounds like lawsuit material to me.

C'mon, that's a very common chord progression.

Ykno it sorta sounds like the chorus to "My Love Is Your Love" by Whitney Houston... written by Wyclef and Jerry D. But there ain't no lawsuit. That's because chords aren't copyrighted... only becomes infringement when the melody on top is the same, or the mechanical recording is sampled (if Onyeka was looped like on some Timbaland schitt).

I can hear the similarities in song...YES. A lot of times this happens when 2 songs sound similiar without either party knowing it. Who knows in this case. I do like both!

Jimmy and Terry didn't produce this, Jeff Lorber and Ian Prince did. Ian and Jimmy Scott wrote it.

It's from her 1st album where LA and Babyface wrote and produced most of the songs.

Jimmy & Terry should give credit to Renee (Janet's ex-husband) he was the one that saw the vision of RN1814! He saw the artistic vision as a artist to mix all those ideas together with the music.

The first album Control was a Time rip off. a Prince rip off. Look at the first video all The Time.

Renee brought a new piece to the puzzle and all 3 of them road that all the way to Velvet Rope!

Thats the truth!

I've always wondered why they didn't give credit to the guys in America since "Let's Wait A While" was a note for note copy of their song."

Rene did shit musically before and after Janet, and you think he's in the studio feeding Jam & Lewis concepts and teaching Jam & Lewis how to write and produce? falloff Janet, Jimmy & Terry have spoken extensively about the concept for Rhythm Nation and how it was developed.

As for Jimmy & Terry, they had plenty of hits without Janet, and they developed their own sound - Rene had nothing to do with it. As if Jimmy Jam would ever stand for that shit. I can just imagine Rene walkin' in the door: "Yo yo YO, I'm slammin' it to Janet so this is how we gonna do it for the next 3 albums, mmmmmkay?" No.

Maybe carl is speaking of Someone To Call My Lover (America did get credit for that, by the way).

the Control music reminded me more of freestyle and dance music of the early 80's, as well as Prince.

This is nothing unusual.
Listen to cherrelle's you look good to me. It is based on the gap band's
sound but that doesn't mean jam and lewis were trying to rip them off as
much as they were trying to nurture cherrelle as an artist.
Also see the similarity in alex o'neal's when the party's over and
levert's pop pop pop goes my mind.

Jam and lewis were sued for Let's wait awhile. I don't know
how it turned out though.

It seems that everyone wants to take a piece of credit for RN1814, I don't blame them it's that good. Didn't that idiot Michael say that it was his idea and that he gave permission for Janet to do RN1814 when he did home video show in attempt to save his career?

well he did do similar dancing in Captain EO years before and RN1814 slightly reminds me of that

I don't think they were sued about the America song. Jimmy Jam is a huge America fan and has spoken about his appropriation of this.

Yeah it is becoming clear there was no lawsuit. The writing credits have remained the same.
