Lauren Hill or D'Angelo which one disappointed you the most?

With all the speculation about D'Angelo's new album (maybe) and Lauren Hill possibly getting back in the game, I have to ask. Which one of these great artists were you most disappointed in when they broke down and flamed out? Both were on the road to musical greatness, but instead they now live in the dreaded, "where are they now" land of disappointments. But its not like we are talking about Devo or Milli Vanilli. We are talking about musical genius.

For me I think it was D'Angelo that disappointed me the most. I kept anticipating a new album then all of a sudden...BAM! He's got a mugshot and a drug habit! Talk about crazy. Which one effected you the most?

D'Angelo...he was coming off winning 2 Grammy's and a successful tour and then...nothing. I thought both of his albums were wonderful and was really looking forward to a great career. I didn't know I would have to wait 8 years..

Lauren, though I'm not sure it's fair since she had/has so much on her plate... but that girl had the world in her hands, who knows how far she could have taken it? Really talented, ridiculously off track rose

Lauryn. She had so much potential. If she had stayed in the game and remained focused, who knows where her career would be right now? She's one artist who could have truly changed the direction of R&B and hip-hop.

Lauryn for sure. I like D'angelo, but I've always just loved Lauryn. She had everything going for her. She was the last person I expected to fall off the wagon.

co-nod 1000% I was just listening to Ready or Not and her rhyme was ridiculous. headbang I don't care what anybody says those people didn't write everything on her album, maybe she didn't give full credits, but that girl was something special. sigh

Lauryn...She let the fame game get to her. Despite the lawsuit, her talent and ultimate realness are still undeniable. She still performs..check her out on youtube.

Lauryn. D'Angelo's lack of material is disappointing, but everything he's released has been on point. Lauryn? Not so much.

Lauren, without a doubt. In my mind, she created another personality in an attempt to shield her from the person that she feared she would become. Now, she does not know WHO in the HELL she is. I guess that is the price of fame.

D'angelo but Hill is not far behind. I really thought they both were going 2 be around 4 quite a while and leave the music world better off 4 it.

Instead.....u know the results. Nada.

I used to dig Lauryn but I really wouldn´t call her a musical genius, especially with all that controversy of her not giving full credit to a lot of people who contributed to her success.
D´Angelo still has it in him, he´s still got a realistic chance to come back with a great album anytime, and remember Alan Leeds said there´s a lot of good music just waiting to get a release but there are some contractual and personal problems but I bet once these issues are resolved, we will listen and enjoy a great, soulful D´Angelo album again. I love how he comes out with soulful music with an updated twist. Very refreshing and soothing. And let´s not forget that the brother has never really been gone as far away as Lauryn and Maxwell have....he´s always appeared on a few songs here and there, whether it´s on Common´s albums, Snoop´s albums, some soundtrack or whatever, he´s never gone for good.
I´ve said it before and I´ll say it again, just give him a bit of time, put him on a good diet, give him a good personal trainer and he´ll be back , stronger and better than before.
His debut album and Voodoo were amazingly good, almost every song on them is great, and his other songs I mentioned above were also great ( b-sides, covers, soundtracks, featuring tracks etc.)
Don´t count him off yet.

Lauryn's a disaster. I wouldn't go near a new album of hers with a bargepole.

Looking forward to the new D'Angelo. Bet it's great.

This easy - Lauryn. She had the smash hit album and was asked by Drew barrymore HERSELF to be one of the angles in "Charlie's Angels" and she turned it down and then the broad just lost her damn mind over some Marley dick.

D'Angelo just got lazy lol.

Drew asked her herself. L said she wanted her next film role to be of significance so she turned her down. Now, how much more significant can it get by playing in a 70s icon sitcom and being the first Black angel eek ? L-Boogie wigged-out. Lucy Liu was picked instead.

LAURYN!

Miseducation is soooo great! Unplugged is good as well! It just wasn't well produced (has no production at all). But imagine a cool production a la Miseducation it would have had some great tracks!
Unfortunately all her songs since Unplugged have been sounding the same.

Lauryn. The first CD was just incredible and to be left hanging is just a terrible shame. At least with D'Angelo, we got 2 CD's before he fell off and I don't count that Unplugged CD Lauryn did as an official album. I know she went through some shit but the fact that she hasn't even dropped a song here or there is sickening. I've pretty much lost hope that we'll ever see anything new come out from Lauryn. What a waste.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

According to Wendy Williams today, Lauryn's featured in this week's People magazine with Brad and Angelina on the cover. She said that she had a FIFTH child for Rohan and the baby still doesn't have a name after 7 months. All this since he got her cousin pregnant. So I guess Lauryn is still nutso sigh

I think it depends how you felt about Lauryn's Unplugged.

D'Angelo never followed his up with a 2 disc Unplugged performance in which all songs use the same 3 chords.

Yeah,I knew about this.Drew Barrymore personally asked Lauryn to co-star in the 'Charlie's Angels' movie. In 1999,everybody wanted to work with Lauryn Hill. She was RED-HOT.Even Sheryl Crow said that she wants Lauryn to produce her next album. As for the movie...Lauryn was crazy for turning that role down! It would have been a historic, groundbreaking role for her.

In pop music, you don't get a second chance. You have to strike while you can.Lauryn messed up big time. These opportunities won't come her way again.
