It's OK, but she has plenty of better ballads IMO.

I like most of her ballads mainly because she doesn't seem to be pandering or trying to appear relevant or up do date. They're more honest songs.

Too bad "You'll See" and the whole Something To Remember project was just about that.

Her ballads rarely get played on radio....but look at the evidence:

This used to be my playground
and The Look of Love.....never heard on radio.... sad was that a big hit?

I don't think her ballads were underrated, I just think Madonna was overrated. She can't sing worth a shit. One of my favorite songs from her is Borderline and it's more for the funky keyboard bass than anything else. Her vocals always left a lot to be desired. Her weakness was and always be exposed when she attempts to sing ballads.

How could you say she can't sing after hearing her voice on songs like I Deserve It, Easy Ride, Love Profusion, Nothing Fails and even the acoustic slow version of Mother and Father somewhere on youtube?

This Used to Be My Playground is among her most vomit-inducing work.

She's got a few that I can stand, Live to Tell, especially, but ballads are not her strong suit.

Live To Tell is classic. cool

her ballads bored me as a kid cause to me she was the poppy, campy madonna. It wasn't until I was in my late teens/early 20's that I began to appreciate them, with the exception of I'll Remember, Bad Girl, Secret and Oh Father which I loved right away.
