MTV "begging" Britney to do the MTV awards

How funny life can be. A year after throwing Britney under the bus every chance they got, they are now not just asking her to perform at this years "lame" show (put it this way, the "Jonas Brothers" are the big draw) they are begging her, they even have been suggesting ways that she could perform and not even have to be there, so far Britney has not even responded.

Pardon my French, but who the fuck are the Jonas Brothers? In my country (Iceland) , pop radio is very Americanized these days although we of course have our fair share of European pop hits.... but I've never heard a single song by those guys.
On a side note, the last time the American VMAs were remotely interesting IMO was in 2002 when Guns N' Roses did a surprise appearance which was a REAL surprise for me..... since then the awards have gone downhill while the European VMAs have been getting better, although last year was just so-so.
This year's host of the American MTV Awards, Russell Brand is actually really funny though, so I'll watch it just because of him. I saw his stand-up DVD recently... REALLY funny stuff. biggrin

May MTV -- and most other stations on television -- and the flocks that watch their current brand of tabloid trash take a confident dive off a colossal bridge void of any liquid padding.

That shit will seriously fuck with your mind.

But whatever makes you happy, I suppose. Life is short and all that. wink

Considering that MTV rarely ever plays videos these days and is no longer relevant as a "video" music channel, I question why they even continue to have an awards show. When they introduced the category of quadruple threat which emphasized an artist's ability to be entrepreneurial and nothing to do with the music video itself, the show went seriously downhill as an awards show. Worse yet, they don't even cover major music events like Lollapalooza or the Bonaroo festival like they did in the past, which is pretty sickening considering that these events display a lot of up and coming musical talent and they still claim to be a music channel. sigh disbelief

Lol, you're a little behind...she's already filmed a promo for the show with Russell :

Of course, this doesn't mean she'll perform but I don't think she hasn't responded yet either...

Do they even show Music Videos anymore? Seriously...

I just heard Seth Rogen on the Stern Show talking about how over MTV is.. he just went on TRL (which is taped he said) for Pineapple Express and they told him that he couldnt bring up weed when he promoted his movie about weed lol rolleyes

MTV is over. MTV has been over since 1998/99 when they forced Pop Music back down everyones throat. Sure pretend it was something new - but keeping it as the only thing in town for all of the 2000's now thats a complete joke. Well until they changed the channel into a RTV (Reality TV)

please, the mtv awards show wouldn't even be remotely interesting anymore
even if they had mj, prince and madonna performing at the same damn show.

mtv awardshows were a thing of the 80s and early 90s. all award shows are
just pale shadows of the 80s covered in a commercial lipgloss shimmer and
the audience knows it, the performers know it, heck it's just one big old
marketing extravaganza. and a very very boring one at that with bad jokes
and bad performances.

no matter who they get to perform or present, it will never be anywhere
near the fun and joy of the early shows.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Really? Guess it's a good thing I outgrew MTV years ago. Their decisions no longer faze me.

Same here!

What happened to the natural course of not a single person giving a damn about a pop or rap star after a 4 year stretch?

My words, exactly.

*remembers the good old days of MTV with good music, good videos and real artists* sigh

The media (and America) can be surprisingly forgivable when it’s a certain kind of person.

Eh. If I were 14 years old I guess I would be into them. But seriously they sound and look like those late 90's boybands meet Disney High School Musical groups minus the dancing.

Hey, they should ditch their current programs and play episodes of that show as well as "Happy Days". It would certainly be better than what they currently show. lol
