Shit-hop not that much different...

Don't know if people realize it, but the music they call "shit-hop" hasn't really changed since the advent of hip-hop. The sounds (today they actually make original sounds that sound like samples), the topics (money, girls, I'm better than you, you're a wanker, etc.), the production, and so on. In other words, yeah, there's not really artists like Public Enemy in the "game" any more, but was that just an anomaly in the first place...ya heard?

Word.

I believe it has to do with the presentation. There's little to no wit/charm/personality in the rhymes themselves as opposed to when the genre was in it's infantile-intermediate stages.
Let's have a Menage a Trois!

This argument is flawed because there are a lot of good Hip hop artist out that just doesn't get play. A lot of it has to do with what record lables think will sell. Hip hop to them means gansta. Artists that actually say things other than how much money they make are deemed to "controversial" or radical to get major support from the label. It's been like this for a while now yet we (meaning the average consumer) support this because it has a "hot beat". I don't know what is so glorious about getting shot and pushing drugs. But the white suburban kids (which make up a high percentage of hip hop consumers) love that way of thinking. It's just a movie.....

All that to say, instead of shitting on hip hop just seek the good shit that is out there. You will be surprised at how many people are actually doing it well.
