Youtube more promising than detrimental

Viral video sites like Youtube and iMeem give people the chance to be their own DJ's, in a sense. Is this good or bad? I think not only is this good, it will provide the same chance that MTV gave to musicians back in the day, because it will put people in the mix that wouldn't get the time of day from corporate labels. Yes, we will have to suffer those who have no business in the business, but that's always been the way. I say it's no different than sifting through record store bins, except in record stores you have something to hold on to (music is nothing more than sound files, though, and itself can't be grasped with physical hands.) Thoughts?
