A Meeting by the River Has anyone else heard this album? 1993 - Ry Cooder and V.M. Bhatt. Cooder plays bottleneck guitar...Bhatt plays mohan vina (an instrument he invented that looks like a guitar, but is played more like a sitar). There's also a smattering of tabla and dumbek.
It was recorded in a single night...with no rehearsal and within a half hour of the two men meeting for the first time. With the exception of a single more uptempo track, the whole album is incredibly tranquil and lovely. Wonderful listening. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |
