With a rebel yell... Billy Idol live in Munich...

and in Kempten!

I just came back from my second Billy Idol concert this week! After seeing him in Munich on sunday I spontaniously decided to see him again tonight! Man, that guy loves his job! Almost 53 and still rocking for 2 hours straight, amazing after all the bullshit he went through/did to himself! And he didn't just pull the usual rock star show! It's amazing how he interacted with the fans! He waved, smiled, gestured, flirted, signed autographs and everything during the show! He also personally handed me the drumstick he was playing with earlier! He played all his hits plus a couple of new tracks! Check out the new song "John Wayne".... awesome! And Steve Stevens still looks like it's the 80ies... amazing guitarist! Check them out if you got a chance!

Glad you had THAT good a good time, Patrick.

Saw Billy in London a couple of years ago. Pretty disappointing. Yes, he gave it his all, and yes, he was great with his fans. But the gig consisted of him - a little man in a blouse - taking his top off to show off his torso (ok, we got it, Billy - you look great for your age; now put it away); and Steve Stevens throwing all these ridiculous guitar god poses. Now, this would have been well and good if Steve was being ironic, but, you know, he wasn't. He meant every single one of those poses. Did he do that two minute "look at me, I'm really fucking talented" bit where he played the guitar behind his head, or with his teeth and used his dick as an bow?

"John Wayne" is great, though, Patrick, you're right.
There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

those are really decent concert pics - what's your camera?

I'd go see Billy again. I don't care if he takes his shirt off - he's Billy fucking Idol.

Glad you had a great time. I LOVE Billy Idol, I always thought he had a genuinely beautiful voice. For a rocker, he was always about more than yelling and screaming. His vocals on White Wedding and Eyes Without a Face are amazing IMO. And his guitarist is a funky mofo. I don't see him mentioned when people discuss great guitarist but I love the way he plays. headbang

Great! Billy Idol's songs have held up very well, IMHO.

I gained a new appreciation for them after watching the Billy Idol "Storytellers" episode. It is REALLY good, and most of the songs are done acoustically by Billy and Steve.

Huh?!? You were disappointed with Billy and Steve?? What exactly did you expect when you decided to go see Billy Idol and Steve Stevens? Steve IS a guitar god, so some guitar god moves are allowed (he did play the guitar behind his head, he didn't play anything with his teeth or dick (?) though... but he did do the windmill guitar strum), the only thing I found kinda silly was the constantly having a cigarette in the mouth thingy... I think that's stupid and totally not cool... but that's a different story, smokers are a pet peeve of mine and wow, Billy taking his shirt of... it's a rock show... what do you expect? Besides there are worse people having to look at than Billy when taking off his shirt... Iggy Pop does that too and believe me, up close that's not a pretty sight! mad confused

Edit: Checking my pictures... Steve actually did play with his teeth!

"John Wayne" is great, though, Patrick, you're right.

I'm glad we can at least agree on that! wink

Thanks! wink I have a Canon Ixus 40 (or Powershot in the US), but that beast is a bitch when it comes to taking pictures at night or at concerts... most of them turn out crappy!! Also the videofunction is of no use at concerts.... it totally distorts the sound to the point of not recognizing anything! neutral I should get something else!

I'd go see Billy again. I don't care if he takes his shirt off - he's Billy fucking Idol.

Exactly! wink

Yeah, amazing voice... even when he talks! And couldn't agree more on Stevens!
