"Games People Play"//THE SPINNERS (appreciation) this is a spinoff of SoulAlive's latest vinyl dig I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG I first paid attention to it at the age of probably 22, 23... I kinda remember hearing it as a child ever so often... but yeah when I heard it as an adult I just... HAD TO HAVE IT!!! and I called the radio station all that evening... wrote down the time they played it so I could remember LOL and I never got through I just "happened" upon it one day thank GOD for the internet because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Also known as They Just Can't Stop It (The Games People Play). One of their best. It's been a while since I read it, but if I recall correctly Barbara Ingram wasn't supposed to sing backup initially? I could be wrong, but I'm too lazy to look.

Definitely One of my favorite Spinners tunes!!!! this one, and Heaven On Earth (So Fine)!!! They both have a little bit that late 1920's feel to the music arrangementand vocals.... ... I too love this song. It takes me back to my college days about 7-8 years ago, and I was just starting to actively listen to music, I bought the Spinners Anthology double album and loved about all of it, but this song was special, something about it grabs me. Good thread, Great song. Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

I love Phillipe Wynne's voice. Can recognize it immediately. He was featured on "(Not Just)Knee Deep", by Funkadelic. He recorded many other tracks albums such as"Electric Spanking Of War Babies", Trombipulation, Urban Dancefloor Guerillas and The Sweat band. [Edited 7/23/08 0:44am] Release Yourself

it is... and although I knew I won't the ONLY one somehow I did feel like I was the ONLY one who matched songs with memories I was riding to Popeye's Chicken with my ex-boyfriend when I first heard this song... no wait a minute that was Angela Bofill's "I Try" (yet another song I had searched high & low for) but, hell, I DO remember riding (somewheres) with my ex when I first heard this song because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Does anyone else think that Phillippe Wynne's voice is eerily similar to Al Green?
I know that he did a take-off of Al on the Live version of Hw Could I Let You Get Away...but the more I listen to the Spinners I hear the similarity of their voices. True enough, The Spinners had wonderful music....and Phillippe had the luxury of creating all those memorable rides to the ends of many songs....
