Bernie Taupin "Friend of the flag" Kind of odd for a brit to sing a tribute song to America, but its not "freedom this" and "God save America" sorta bull. Its more complex then that, like the line in the middle 8: "And you paid the price the day you hunted buffalo...", which reminds me lyrically somewhat of Elton Johns "indian Sunset", which was written by Taupin some 16 years before. Whilst that was basically about the horrid things white man did to the natives, its still good to see he was still passionate about how horrific and just plain stupid, white man was to the native Indians. Whole album "tribe", has gotta be one of my all time fav albums. It sounds like Starship at times (album came out in 1987, and Taupin lists the help of Martin Page, both who helped write "we built this city" a few years prior), so whilst I love the production on Starship and this album, its a bonus to get some good lyrics aswell LOL Obscure song/album. Any thoughts?

You should try and find his album "tribe". I love it. Its very glossy production wise, but some great lyrics though aswell. This is probably my least fav off the album:- [Edited 7/14/08 20:30pm]
