Christopher Ciccone disses madonna's voice...excerpt inside! About the Girlie Show:
"Her moves are, indeed, terrific. Her voice, however, is another matter. My sister's unwillingness to submit to the drudgery of regular singing lessons is a by-product of the supreme self-confidence with which she was born." "Niki Harris has a better voice than Madonna. Her voice is fully trained, and Madonna fights to keep her at bay because Niki is fully capable of drowning her out and often does. When that happens, Madonna sometimes orders Niki's mike to be switched off. Once or twice, Madonna has even raised the possibility of firing Niki. Not that she would ever do it herself...she is utterly terrified of confrontation, avoids it at all costs, can never bring herself to fire anyone face-to-face, and always delegates that task to one of her minions, usually me."

Updates from the yawn factory:
1. Madonna's a bitch supreme, with cunty frosting. 2. Madonna's voice is mediocre, and Nikki Harris is a better singer. What shocking bombs will Chrissy drop next? Madonna fucked to get ahead? Madonna's relationship with Sean Penn was tumultuous? A Certain Sacrifice was not exactly an Oscar winner? Madonna's British accent is fake? [Edited 7/14/08 11:36am]

But let's not stop the excerpts by any means! I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Madonna studied voice for Evita.
In the Secret documentary, she is shown going to her voice teacher. The Madonna haters and Chris conveniently ignore facts that don't suit their negative views of her.

So far i think he sounds very real and not at all a hater. He sounds annoyed at some stuff but he definitely still has love for his sister. It's a shame it's come to this. I tend to agree about her voice - esp live. Now I adore Madonna - I am a big fan but she doesn't have a natural talent voice wise.... Lisa Have you had your + signs today?

two years ago, i was in my hometown in southwestern MI. i hadn't seen the place in nearly 30(!) years, and it's designated an economic development zone now because it's so run down and desolate. one of the things going on the weekend i was there was a free concert by nikki harris. she was also born there. i didn't know this, but apparently her father was a fairly well-known successful musician and he had started these concerts awhile back to uplift the community. when he passed, nikki took up doing them when she could.
i was pretty blown away. she was great, doing everything thing from standards to jazz to motown. i knew she was madonna's backup singer, and that concert made me wonder why. moreover, she didn't come across as the slightly "ghetto" person i remembered from truth or dare. maybe it was age, but she was much more confident and self-assured and...i don't know what the word is. it reminded me, though, of a comment i read by a poster on another site about one of the dancers in the movie (the black guy in bed with madonna in one scene). it seems this dancer was really a rather reserved, serious and studious man who taught dance, but in the movie he was behaving like he wasn't that educated (in the words of the poster who had taken his class.) those two examples made me wonder if nikki and this guy felt that had to behave conform to a "black" stereotype on a certain level that didn't upstage madonna or that made her feel comfortable in her superiority trip ('cause she definitely was on one in that film.) maybe they just wanted to get paid and did what they had to do. but i've always wondered about nikki's career choices after seeing her. Maybe - but we are not all the waltons. He has been seriously cut off and love can manifest itself in some funny ways. Especially a love that's been hurt / damaged. I don't feel sorry for Madonna but I do feel sorry for her children. They are bound to hear about it one way or another. But then I feel sorry for them coming into contact with some of the stuff Madonna has created for them. She may ban the TV in her house but one day they will have their own TV and she has done alot to make her children cringe. Have you had your + signs today?

Are you saying that sex is dirty and wrong and her kids should be ashamed of sexuality? I'm sure she will share that with them when they are old enough to understand. She also has done a lot as far as great songs and performances to make them proud. What I see is Chris expected to get everything from his sister. I have to wonder if he had any friends or lovers. He expected more than anyone could ever give. No matter what she did for him or gave him it would never be enough. You can't build your life around one person. Maybe Madonna doesn't have the widest range, but her voice has a very appealing tone. She can definitely sing, although not in the Mariah Carey/American Idol way that is considered a great singer these days.
If she really couldn't sing, she wouldn't be succcessful all these years.

No one person can fulfill all your emotional and financial needs. Of course I am not saying sex is wrong or dirty (i ahve 2 kids!) - although I do think that orgies and group sex are wrong. Plus the pictures of her as a young woman with that really old guy made me feel a bit ill too. Seriously you don't think that her children are going to be subjected to some serious bullying / micky taking as a result of her actions? I loved alot of the pictures in her book and really think Madonna is totally deserving of her place in history. I also know that she wouldn't have got there if she didn't do the things she had done - doesn't mean I agree with them all. Reemeber trying to get the married man in Truth or Dare - not right. Definitely Madonna is no saint and has done lots of things that I personally don't think are right. Doesnt stop me being a fan though. I am personally sad that after all this time Christopher has broken his silence and they are estranged. He's been there since the start. I haven't read all the book yet so I can't say for sure that it's all to do with money. But I do know that if someone was openly baiting my sibling I would say something. Maybe not infront of everyone but after the fact. We will never know for sure if she did that or if she did let Ritchie belittle him. Hell this book wont give us the full story. I am still looking forward to reading it though. Lisa Have you had your + signs today?

I've made this point several times before. Madonna has never respected the craft of singing or acting yet feels she is entitled to be successful in these fields. We all know she craved to be a successful actress, yet the idea of actually LEARNING TO ACT seems to have never occurred to her. She just seemed to think she was divinely entitled to conquer the movie world, without putting any effort into EARNING THE RIGHT. The same goes for her singing. With a voice as weak as hers, she should've been working to improve, but she seems to have felt lessons were beneath her. She only took lessons when she was forced to on Dick Tracy or Evita. Since then she may well have started lessons to get her in shape for tours, but she should have been doing that non stop from the start. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Her performance in Dangerous Game was decent. I'm not a fan of her acting, but she did study. Perhaps she didn't have the natural ability to act. You can study a lot but if you don't the natural talent for acting you will only go so far. It doesn't mean she didn't try to respect the craft of acting. If you actually bothered to listen to Madonna's records and tours over the years, you will see that her voice has improved and grown a lot. But of course, you just mindlessly hate her. I seriously doubt you ever bother to listen to her. In fact, there are many singers who have never taken a singing lesson in their life. Are they disrespcting their craft? Madonna has put a lot more effort into improving her voice than the vast majority of singers out there. Most artists sound either the same as when they first started (Janet) or worse (Mariah Carey) whereas Madonna has improved and grown so much as a singer. [Edited 7/16/08 10:23am]

She took lessons briefly when she was forced to by directors. That is not serious study. Serious study is not just a few weeks here and there because a director demands it. It's regular training. Week in, week out. That is if you're serious about the craft. Madonna never did that. Your own quote makes that clear. I believe her brother mentioned something about her not taking lessons was around Blonde Ambition.
These are MJ fan levels of distortion here. Christopher's quote is there for all of us to see at the top of this thread. He talks about her refusal to take REGULAR lessons, so that's not just talking about one tour. He obviously thought (quite rightly) that she should be doing them constantly just like she works out constantly. He was right. And I repeat, Madonna's voice changed over the years, but it did not improve. If anything you'd have to say it got worse because it got so bland. In the beginning her voice was mistaken for black. That could never happen from the '90s onward as the soulfulness started draining away. And the writers who say her voice improved are the same hacks who've been licking her boots for 12 years now. Even her own fans admit her vocals on her new CD are abysmal, but you won't find any reviews that mention that. The lesson? Don't rely on the media to tell you the truth. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Considering everything that Madonna has accomplished (numerous awards,a $600 million fortune,record-breaking tours, the type of career longevity that most artists would kill for),I don't think she needs any kind of "lessons" at all
You are the perfect Madonna fan. Your post embodies the entire philosophy in a nutshell. "She's making millions, selling millions so who cares about all that boring talent stuff? You go, girl!" Madonna will never be Patti LaBelle or Aretha Franklin,no matter how many singing lessons she takes. The public obviously likes her just the way she is,considering how many records she has sold and how many concert tickets she sells.
