Steviw Wonder at the Taste of Chicago

I have no idea how many people were at the Taste of Chicago for the free Stevie Wonder concert, but I knew nothing was going to keep me away. After being fortunate enough to get seats due to a hookup, we got treated an an almost 3 hour show. Stevie's voice was PERFECT. The band was tight and unlike the concert I saw last September 11, Stevie had added live horns back into the fray.

Read it and weep at the setlist. lol

Awww...so lucky, awesome setlist! I hope to hear all those songs on Saturday when I see him. Toss in Knocks Me Off My Feet or Creepin and I can go to music heaven.

He did do Knocks Me Off My Feet and I Just Called To Say I Love You. I am sure I am missing something else because other reviewers said he did 30 songs!!! eek

My friend Rebecca teases me because I always write down setlists on napkins and scraps of paper. I didn't have any this time. lol

How cool!

My brother was there -- he sent me a phone picture (little scrub mad ).

Stevie Wonder was the very first arena concert I ever saw back in August 1986.

Great performer, awesome setlist!

I miss "The Taste" . . . sad

I haven't seen stevie live since I was a little girl. He used to come to our high school every year or so and do a "surprise" concert. The last time I went I was 11.

Spoken like a true person who doesn't have to miss it if she doesn't want to. I was never a huge fan (except when the band I sang with played it 10 years ago cool ), but there is NOTHING comparable here in Oregon and I do miss the diversity of music and food selections.

What's that saying of not missing the water 'til the well runs dry . . ? wink

Great show, especially the second half. I enjoyed the first half as well, but it was a little bit subdued, for the most part.

My family seemed to enjoy it too.

What an AMAZING experience! A lady next to me said that despite the humongous crowd she had to be there because it was just one of those "once in a lifetime experiences." I could not have said it better. He has so many great songs that it shakes the spirit to the core to witness such a gifted human being. In three hours he couldn't even play all his hits, let alone the lesser known gems. But what he gave us was pure magic. I loved it. He sounded great and the band was tight. One moment that stood out to me was hearing that crowd of thousands singing the horn part of "Sir Duke." That was just fantastic. It was really a testament to the beauty and power of music.

I saw Chaka Friday night and she was great with another tight band. I was so impressed that she sang the songs through instead of doing the scatting that she had been doing in recent years. Two legends in one weekend for free - it doesn't get any better.

I know, OMG! When he went back to that one. Wow!! And I was in the heart of the crowd, watching the screen. The energy was just amazing. Everyone was singing "Hey, hey, hey." So many people, so many walks of life. Stevie is just a living legend, a treasure. I had never seen him live so I wasn't going to miss it for anything in the world. The weather channels kept predicting rain, but I said heaven will not rain on Stevie. The weather was beautiful. At one point during "Ribbon in the Sky" my sister pointed to the sea gulls flying overhead as the sun was setting and we just had to pause to take it all in. Then I saw a little girl who was about 10 singing the chorus, and I was so grateful to be there experiencing it all.
