it's INTRO! from 1993!

And when you see that the producers include Eddie F and Dave "Jam" Hall, there's no mistake as to where the hip-hop soul sound came from.

"Let Me Be The One"

Hell, Mary J Blige even recorded a song ("Ooh") over the same Ed O.G. beat ("I Got To Have It"), albeit ten years after Intro did.

I realize this is probably not news to most of you, because Intro's Stevie Wonder remake has been mentioned a number of times on the org:
"Ribbon In The Sky"

I still haven't heard their 1995 follow-up:

I love Intro! woot! Kenny Greene (R.I.P.) had a helluva voice. nod

The 4 singles from the debut were all hot ("Love Thang," "Let Me Be the One," "Come Inside," and "Ribbon in the Sky"), as was the first single from New Life, "Funny How Time Flies":

BTW, Kenny wrote Mary's hits "Reminisce" and "Love No Limit." music

Awww...I hadn't thought about this one in a while. I didn't know he died until (maybe you, Alex?) mentioned it a few months back.
