Damn. Haters. Saying that MJ is trying to reach a demographic that don't want him. WTF? Well, they do not want Prince either. (If that is the case).

Look, this song is not Michael's. It is Akon's. What do expect from Akon anyway? Some of you guys make it look like MJ killed someone on this thread. It is a good song. I actually like the song and I do not like anything Akon puts out. It is really good and we need these types of songs being played on the radio. I rather hear this song then anything from Souja Boy or Lil Wayne.

I think Mike's vocals were on point. I am just glad to hear new stuff from Mike. Michael is the kind of artist that doesn't mind working with the young cats in the industry. And what is this mess about MJ can do better? What does he have to prove? MJ did it all, sold the records, broke the records, own that catalouge, etc. What else does he need to do? Too many people complaining about a song that isn't Michael's.

And where is this kind of hate when Madge was doing the song with Justin or Janet trying to be like her younger counterparts? I didn't read any of this kind of hatred on here. Stop hating and at least enjoy it.

We all know it is going to be a hit. Anything Akon makes becomes a hit. It is a hit on the Internet where young people used anyway. (Whatever the hell that means.)

One more thing before I go back to the MJJC board: MJ demographic is the people. He never had one distinct demographic. Old people, young people, male, female, black, white, etc. all buy/bought Michael's music. So, this demographic crap is nonsense. Janet lost her core audience and I have no idea who Madonna's audience truly is. MJ still has the various groups as his "demographic".

I wouldn't say anything Akon does becomes a hit. His version of "Wanna Be..." was no hit. Many people complained about Madonna doing the song with Justin!!
It's just that with Michael we have such high expectations. He knows that, and that's why he doesn't release a bew album very 3 years.
I for myself don't complain, it's SOMETHING NEW!! it's not the new single, just a song with Akon.

WTF? That shit was massive. It's STILL on the dance chart in Australia, after it was in the singles chart for 16 weeks! that's 4 months! With no video, and with it being mostly a digital release with a fucked up late physical release, and being in our top 20 for most of that time, I'd say that's a hit. It did pretty well in the states too, and I still hear it on the radio every time I turn it on. Isn't that a hit? confused

It was #81 on the Hot 100 (main pop chart) and #2 (I think) on the dance chart here.

Well looks like the news is picking up on the Akon+MJ song and the fans reaction to it

Fans Call New Michael Jackson Song 'Summer Anthem Of 2008'
They heap praise on the track...

by Jason Gregory
01 July 2008

'Hold Me Down',(LMAO! lol ) the new song by rapper Akon and Michael Jackson, is 2008's summer in the making and proof that “the king of pop” is back.

Those are the thoughts of just a few music fans who have contacted Gigwise since the track emerged online yesterday (June 30th).

'Hold My Hand' is understood to be the product of the pair's recent studio collaboration, which is expected to lead to the release of Jackson's new studio album.

Speaking to Gigwise, Boggie, described the song as “beautiful” and said it “brings much comfort”.

“The lyrics reach out to the basic need that is so absent in todays botch job of a society. Michael shows his sincere dedication to making the world a better place.

“That is what a true King is supposed to do. The King of Pop is always in the hearts of those who understand what life, humanity and music are about. Michael brings out the best in anyone he works with, Akon sounds so smooth.”

Ertan was also impressed by the track and how “Michael brings Akon to another level”.

“This song simply ROCKS!!! It's so smooth, so beautiful,” added.

A number of fans who contacted Gigwise also agreed that 'Hold My Hand' proved that Jackson had “the best voice ever”.

Mike sounds good. But the song is -- blech.

If he would just get rid of Akon, the pre-set Casio keyboard instrumentals and get some studio musicians who can actually play real instruments and re-record it.

Doesn't it just sound like something Wyclef Jean would have done about 10 years ago but better and with real instruments?

The song is a mix of "The Tide is High" and Alicia Keys' "No One".

I guess it'll be a guilty pleasure of mine biggrin

im impressed by this song, i think it is pretty much an anthem. should do well on the charts and reignite interest in mj. Its a good signal for the album, i hope he sticks to the formula of happy upbeat positive tracks and gets rid of the invincible/scream/this time around type of track.

I heard some of the song again and I just couldn't listen to the rest of it. I'm sorry but it sucks worse than monkey balls. I don't mind if MJ works with people who are current or "relevent" (I hate that word) but with that being the case, the song needs to be good and this isn't. I know it's not MJ's song but it doesn't matter, it's guilt by association. Michael, you better come harder than that! Hold my Hand? Nucca please! rolleyes
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

To each their own, i guess. I actually really like this song. While i wish he would make something like the track he made with Santana on Invincible, I still think this is very sweet. Let's not forget, this is Akon FEATURING Mike afterall, and not the other way around. It seems radio friendly, which can't be bad for Michael, given that his output of anything that is actually NEW has been like a big fat 0.

This song really sucks ass.... I don't understand why MJ would lower himself to work with that eggplant-looking fucker that sounds like his voice has been through Auto-tune so much that it sounds like a fucking synthesizer! The worst part is that Michael's vocals are processed to emulate that sound.
But hey, that's what you get when you're working with a KONvict.

Because they all fuck about with underage youngsters.

All they need to do is get Pete Townsend and Gary Glitter on the bill, and they can hold a "NONCESTERS OF ROCK" festival.

Well, all the YT links have been removed "due to a 3rd party copyright claim". The demos were claimed by Sony / ATV. Took em a while, I must say. I think it was leaked on purpose though to see what the response would be nod

Then lose the affection. Yeah, Kels is a sicko and Akon loves to hump on little girls, but Mike did a song with those guys. It is just a song. Mike is not like a lot of people that wouldn't waste their times with Kels or Akon. Mike tends to see the "good" in people. That is what hurt him in the first place. Anyway, I doubt MJ is friends with Kels. I truly hope not. Mike has a daughter. Just saying.

A comment coming from a bitter Prince fan.

I like the song and I do not care if you guys do not like the song. The song has meaning. Something that lacks in almost every genre of music today. It is gonna be a huge hit. A lot of people are responding very well to the song. After everything MJ has been through, it is a great thing to see that people are really liking this song.

Now, I am no fan of Akon but he is alright. I do not understand why he has to remind people in every song that he makes that he was a convict. That is not something to be proud about. When he said "convict" in the song, I was like, "come on dude, please." LOL.

Many people complained about Madonna doing the song with Justin!!
It's just that with Michael we have such high expectations

They complained? I must have missed that. I was just going by my assumptions. Well, sorry if your "expectations" that you had (because I didn't have any) of MJ did not come through. You make it seem like it was a due or give it up thing for MJ. Mike doesn't even need to do this music thing anymore. He has a lot of money, did everything that he could possibility do in the industry and made a HUGE impact. The man is just trying to make the best music possible, esp. in today's musical climate of trashy, sexual charged, shitty songs. So, I can't understand for the life of me why some people on here are so negative about a song that is not even Michael's.

What I wanna know is which popular artist these days would you rather have MJ do a song with? Akon might not be a talented singer, but he can produced and make some good songs. Well, I believe he can now after I heard "Hold My Hand".
