Whats with this "do a shit song" pass. If anyone else did this song we would be ripping them apart. Lets face it, this is a last ditch effort to be relevant to an audience that doesnt want him. Sorry to be harsh but its true, this isnt FRESH, and i wouldnt care how good he sounded, shit people were saying this crap about Prince in the later 90's, "oh he needs to work with Pharrell" i was like "get the fuck out of here". This formula DOES NOT WORK PEOPLE, Michael is old, Prince is old, Janet is old etc..stop LOWERING yourself and working with "whoever is hiptoday" its not career saving, its sad, its pathetic, and lets be real, its not like this was a REAL DUET, akon was in one part of the world and MJ another and someone emailed the track and the other one did a part and that was it, totally UNINSPIRED.

Jesus christ you are MJ, just go into a studio and bang out 9 solid tracks, fuck the charts, fuck your label, fuck akon and the 11 year olds that listen to him, you wanna be relevant, be honest with yourself first!

If this was Akon featuring JT or Chris Brown folks would be having a field day. But Michael could guest burp on an album by Satan and fans would buy the whole album in every format just happy to have something new by the KOP. It doesn't take much.

Geez... it's just a "featuring".

I know I won't be buying a whole akon album to get the song- I'll buy the single, for sure.

I know Michael's got a new album coming out so I'm really not bothered by this guest vocal on one song.

But men are too competitive to sing to the same girl. "The Girl Is Mine" made more sense as male-male duet.

Hmmmm...so could there be a serious Bromance going on between Akon and MJ? hmmm lol

I acquired the rare skill of tuning Akon out of my head recently so I pretty much skip his verses lol

People are just happy he actually has something out, it's that simple.

Just to compare:
Love Never Felt So Good.

Even though it is just a demo, there´s thousand times more passion and melody to this song.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Michael being featured had one focus: Re-entry to the music industry.

Now it's obvious I'm not to fond of Akon, but it's possible that positive buzz from the song could help Michael, and buy reading numerous, Michael is getting alot of positive feedback.

Sure, the song isn't great and nothing to write home about, but it's something to reintroduce Michael Jackson, who hasn't released an actual new single since 2003, to the world. Simple as that

Yeah, I know, but still the song sucks... lol

Do we know who wrote this song yet?

My thoughts on this are:

I liked the song and will play it this summer. It is NEW MJ.
I'd give it a 6/10. Not exactly GREAT.

I'm SHOCKED it actually saw the light of day. I strongly imagine this was payback for WBSS 2008. And actually, maybe this will lead to Akon being taken more seriously by r&b audiences who want to write him off. That being said, a duet with Michael doesn't save you from having little to no talent. I have a robot effect on my Garage Band, I can be Akon too!!

As for this song helping Michael, possibly, but at this point, who cares? I'm holding out for the video. IF the video actually happens, and doesn't end up in stall-out hell, this might be bring Michael back to being relevant to the kids. However, to a lot of kids Michael is either a child molester or that retro guy who sang "Billie Jean." "Billie Jean" came on in the club last Friday, and the majority of the "youth" started laughing, wereas, the late 20s people, got down. To the "kids" today Michael finally not connect with this demographic. (And one could argue given their taste in music - who would want to?)

Being billed the King of Pop is a double edged sword. What happens when you aren't as POPULAR as you once were? First it was Janet now it's Madonna, and unless this song's video saves him, or a solid album saves him, I fear Michael's slip might be next.

Only time will tell. And 10,000 Greatest hits albums in between. biggrin

And i'm sure if this was Stevie Wonder or any other beloved org artist on the track, it would not be getting this type of reaction, bottom line.

No one is saying this is a great song 'cause it's not but it's decent and CERTAINLY not worse than anything on radio right now. If it does well and gets people talking about Michael's music instead of his personal life, then it's served it's purpose. Is anyone gonna be playing this in 10 years? Probably not, but if it's a success then it's good for Michael no matter how you look at it. What is wrong with Michael wanting to appeal to a younger audience anyway? (and please save me the lame kiddie jokes rolleyes)? Young people are the one's buying albums afterall and obviously Michael wants to be successful on the charts again. Look at Madonna, she hooked up with Justin & Timbaland for "4 Minutes". Was she desperate for a hit too? Obviously, but regardless it ended up working for her as it became her biggest hit in the U.S. since "Music" and i'm sure she gained a broader audience because of that song.

Anyway, I am just happy to hear something new from Michael and I don't care who calls me delusional or a stan or whatever. Obviously, I'm hoping the stuff on the new album will be much better, but he sounds awesome (as always) in this song.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

How in the fuck does MJ listen to Akon's work and think "THAT'S who I'll duet with to get back in".

Stupid, STUPID song that will bomb big time.

Come on guys, look on the bright side! Instead of saying "it's not as good as [insert favourite MJ song here]", say "it's not as bad as that godawful One More Chance fiasco". smile

Anyway, there's no point in getting wound up about it. No matter what we all think, Michael will do exactly what he pleases, just as he always has.
