Prince releases new album on Napster

Go to Napster.

Search under Artist for Prince.

Click on Prince and it brings you to the Prince page with his music and bio.

You will see that Prince has a new album. Great album cover art with what appears to be Prince. ...plus the word Prince is there in the color purple written in a PurpleRainish font.

The only problem is that this isn't Prince at all. It is some French Rapper.

Someone needs to get this guy off the Prince page on these music sites. People are buying this album by mistake. Prince needs to send some cease and desist letters to this guy.

It a sad day when someone steals a guys name to make profit for themselves.

hmmm. Then again. In the iTunes store. It lists a Patti Smith album on the Prince page.

lol No. Prince released "The Work, Pt. 1" through the original file-sharing Napster about 8 years ago. Good times, good times...

No - Patti Smith did a cover of When Doves Cry. Lot's of people did Prince Covers. Why aren't all the cover songs listed on his page? ...because that wouldn't make sense. Let's just list all of his albums and look for the Patti Smith albums on the Patti Smith page.

That really wasn't my point to the post though.

The point is that some French Rapper who freely drops the N word on a regular bases has not only stolen Prince's name, his likeness, and even his fonts and colors. ...he has landed his album under the Prince page on Napster.

Also when you go to google and type in Prince "Birth of a King" other people list him too.

What about Rolling Stone?

http://www.rollingstone.c...tionprince

He's on there too. Click on Biography and it goes to the real Prince. This is just not right. It makes this look like a legitimate Prince album.

What's next? A French rapper called Sting? another French rapper called Cher? It's not like they don't know who Prince is in France and Europe. This is clearly just someone trying to make a buck off of someone elses name.

There is only one Prince. (and even if there are 2... at least separate them, so that some guy doesn't get undo money from sales because it looks like a new Prince album since it is on the Prince page.

Which is a Prince song. But okay, I understand what yer getting at. A cover, then. But a beautiful cover. And I am not easily woo-ed by artists that cover Prince songs.

And why do you think Prince can't handle this?
Obviously suing is not a problem.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Well, I'm sure he can and probably will if he knows about it. ...but he shouldn't have to sue to get Napster to take it down off of his page. Rolling Stone should know better too. Rhapsody has him listed as Prince (1). I have told Napster about this but it is still there.

It just annoys me. This guy is yelling. "My name is Prince" on half of the tracks. He needs a slap. (maybe a slap of a lawsuit would do.) And the guy rips off the batman theme and Daughtry's "Home". I wonder if he cleared either of those legally.

The guy is probably just looking to get sued for publicity. ...because his music isn't good enough to sell without any. (or with any for that matter.)
