You just proved that. Mick Jagger is the lead singer of the rolling stones who sings with Michael J on state of shock. The late Freddie Mercury is the lead singer of Queen who's singing Another One bites the dust here. Don't laugh at my funk

Okay damn. Learn something new every day. This is my first time
hearing this version. I only knew of the version michael recorded with mick on the jacksons victory album of 1984. I wonder why the version with Freddie Mercury got nixed. Don't laugh at my funk

Anyway. Love this one. There's no way you can listen to this and not think of Chic. They were fans, and Bernard Edwards has said he loved this song.

I'd never heard it before a few years ago. Somebody here brought it up. One of the MJ fams can correct me, but I don't think the Mercury version ever got past a demo. I think MJ's voice worked better with Mick than it did with Freddie. He and Freddie had similar registers and, to me, it feels lik they just sing over each other.

It's very much your fault Timmy. Now, I just have to find my Hot Space album. http://www.last.fm/user/somebodyunot

This song was #1 when I was born.
It was a favorite of mine as a, well, toddler! So it is really deep dish favorite for me. Also, love how Grandmaster Flash used it in "Wheels Of Steel":

Michael and Freddie had a falling out and Michael took Freddie's voice off of the recording. He then brought in Mick....the rest is history. FYI, Michael and Freddie recorded 3 songs for the Victory album but 2 remain unreleased and the third was redone with Freddie alone. Two questions... ***Why did Michael and Freddie have a falling out? ***Isn't it kinda silly for Michael to record three songs with another artist....for an album with his brothers?! It's like he's pushing his own brothers aside to sing with an "outside" artist, lol. When I first heard "State Of Shock",I liked it but I felt sorry for the brothers. They were reduced to singing silly backup parts ("nah nah nah nah nah nah....whoo! Whoo!") and it's THEIR album, lol.

To answer your second question, I don't think that Mike wanted to do the album with them in the first place. This is evident by him not "really" appearing in the Tourture video. He still wanted to do his music and nobody elses. It was his mom who convinced him to do the album, and we know how he feels about his mom. I have a few outtakes from the "Victory", CD on which Freddie appears. "State of Shock", "Victory" and "There must be more to life than this"... Victory has NEVER seen the light of day, we all know what happened to "State"...and "There must be more to life..."ended up on I think, a Queen or a Freddie solo project. I have the duet version, it is interesting. "Victory", which was supposed to be the title track, sounds strange. One last thing, it was Michael that convinced Freddie to release, "Another one bites the dust". Freddie thought that it too commercial and "poppy". Michael thought that it would be an instant hit and that it would expose the band to a new set of fans. I like! I want to get some Queen music. All I really know are the typical songs for now If you will, so will I

Queen could get down too. John Deacon was friends with Nile Rodgers and was in the studio with Chic (when they laid down the tracks for "Good Times"). I'm sure that inspired him to write "A.B.T.D".
"Hot Space" is hip too. My fave off "The Game" is "Dragon Attack". Hard hitting but funky too.

I didn't realize that Michael and Freddie were such close friends. It's cool that Michael convinced Queen to release what became one of their biggest hits.
