Fuck who oppose, its MUCH better than the original. Grace Jones & the Sly/Robbie team made one helluva musical marriage.

"A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall" by Roxy Music is better than Bob Dylan's version, imo.

I like Bauhaus Ziggy cover more than the original. Maybe because I heard it first. i think the bauhaus version of ziggy has more punch, but i'm more loyal to the bowie version. i do prefer their version of 'third uncle' to the brian eno original, though. 'telegram sam' is a toss-up. i think the police's version of "demolition man" came first, though i might be wrong about that. i know sting did it live and re-recorded it for that lame-ass sly stallone movie by the same title. i think everyone thinks of it as a grace song regardless. OH: and it's also a toss-up for me between grace and iggy with "nightclubbing". both are pretty sweet. The Police's verison of "Demolition Man" came out second. It was on "Ghost in the Machine". I like both their version and Grace's version. Here's a tidbit I found: "Sting wrote this when he was visiting actor Peter O'Toole at his house in Ireland. He gave it to Grace Jones, who recorded it in 1981. The Police recorded their version the next year." And for me the Bowie version of Ziggy has more finesse, although the Bauhaus version is more powerful. Iggy's "The Passenger" wins out over Sioux's version. Hands down.

I think sometimes it depends on the one you hear first because it sort of sets the stage for what the song should sound like - especially if it's a band you love. You have to be mindful of your bias.

I thought I was the only one that liked that song. The "Freebird Medley" part is very important though. You can't leave that out of the title.

Shout all you want, but I still disagree. I agree with u on that Alex. Marvin sings with much more conviction than Luther did on this song. Luther's is good, but doesn't compare to Marvin's. It's almost like they are 2 diffrent songs. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

It's a Michael solo song. I love Chaka, but little Mike beats out just about everyone IMO. I was reading the initial post thinking how much I really disagreed with most of the choices until I got to "Who's Lovin' You." I agree with that one wholeheartedly. If Marvin's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" counts, I think it's even better than the version by Gladys Knight & the Pips. I'll take the original version of "Satisfaction," thanks.
