Think so? I really have no patience for broke-ass, pro-Black radicals who are too cheap to spend a dime on their culture and always bithcn' 'bout "the system" and "the white man". Fuck 'em who needs em? yeah i figured as much. These socio-cultural groups never wanna pay for a damn thing when it comes to supporting roots acts in the blues, jazz and funk. Useless anachronisms; great for those in the community who want a "free show". (Don't really charge for ticket, just ask for "donations"!) Ha ha man don't clown me with your political b/s. I been deep in dat shit since '66; ain't seen none of them chumps with a paid ticket in their hands. "I'm on the list with him; let me in!" thank you Sir.Now that was a Classy&Intelligent Post.I get Ribbed for Name Dropping but didn't Bono for His Lame Re-Make of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" have too Name Drop almost Every Current Hot Act on that Wack Song?I think "With or without You" is a Damn Good Pop Song but they aren't the kind of Band that I feel a Whole Album is like that.there is something missing from them too fully move me.And I've already explained to you what I don't like about U2's music. Somebody else explained it well too- half of an album is pretty good, and the other half is filler. That's their formula. I prefer to listen to complete albums by the really talented songwriters. Now Bono might be a good songwriter for the occasional song (One, With or Without You, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Beautiful Day) but when he fills up an album with quality songs I'll start listening to them again. Their last album was the closest they've come to that, so they are improving. But at least us casual fans have the singles. As far as having to own everything an artist does to get a full picture of their artistic abilities, some of us are white collar workers that pay bills. I can't afford to buy every David Bowie album in existence. And why should I buy "Boy". Just to see where they came from? Hell no. If I didn't like what I heard from it in the first place, I'm not gonna pay for the crap just so I can spout my so called "educated opinions" on a Prince website all day. Someone asked for my opinion on what they should get, and I told them mine. That's that. This time instead of cussing me out vehemently, why don't you actually try to dispute the points I'm making? This is part of the problem. You act as if music is some type of competition, like the Olympics. Music is an art of expression. Its participants don't line up and run against each other, they don't play with a ball to outscore each other. One's style doesn't have to be equalled to be of equal merit. Believe it or not, just because something is different doesn't necessarily make it inferior or superior. Sometimes it's just different. Of course there are musicians who are more accomplished in some ways than U2, but if we're going to go that route, NOBODY outside of Jazz is worth anything, so we can just forget about any group mentioned in this thread based on how well they play their respective instruments. I mean seriously, if some of you don't like U2, that's fine, because we're all entitled to like whatever it is we like. But the original poster asked for suggestions from people about what's best to get from their catalog, and to rank on 'em like you're doing is akin to all the anti-Madonna bashing that you get your feathers ruffled by when people do the same thing in the MYRIAD of threads devoted to her. OK. Whatever you say. I know about the label thing. Yep I was Guilty for Defending Rick James. See, I don't REALLY think you were "guilty" for defending Rick James. If that's how you felt, it's your right to defend him. I'm saying, EVERYONE responds to posts that weren't necessarily addressed to them. So for you to intimate that I shouldn't "dip and dap" is sort of silly when that's the way things work on a message board/newsgroup/fan site, etc.
but again I don't have no Beef with you so why are you trying too start some Fire when no Water is Needed??
That one gets a 5 lol rating! I wish I knew what that meant! Seriously, I was trying to explain what RD meant. I knew what he meant from the get-go, but I seriously doubt you and Jtgillia did. You two took it the wrong way. I really have no problem with anyone thinking U2 is overrated. I was defending the principal of explaining why someone thinks they're overrated and/or some of their music "sucks beyond belief." Nothing more, nothing less. And since Madonna was the easiest example I cold think of I used her example. Although I usually post in very small percentage of Madonna threads, I have explained why I think she's all hype and little substance. I'm trying to get people to be rational, regardless of whether anyone agrees or not. Most times I just like to be enlightened as to the reasons why. Wow, and this thread got REAL funny after I left!
I've been lauging my butt off reading the posts. mistermaxxx

Trust me when I say I'm not trying to push the issue anymore, because actually I've ceased caring. But what you just said above is vague. Don't think you need to explain it though, it's cool. This thread doesn't need to increase anymore with confusion. we never said we didn't like some of there stuff.we each gave them props.we each bought there stuff&give them a fair chance.Bono is a Talented Composer but Beyond that the Band isn't a Band that really Moves me on a whole.
I can understand that. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

>I love how JT tries to be all badass and rude but when he gets outgunned by facts and common sense then he comes back trying to be all sensible and cordial...you aint slick.
Stop crying. Nothing you have said on this thread has anything to do with a fact or common sense. It's just your own bloated opinion. I'll keep going on this until you learn. That's the teacher in me, I guess.
