really digging them both, but Amy more
"Try to remember how you used to feel about me
and think about how you're treating me now.
Then try to reconcile them, if you can.
But you don't even remember, do you?"

No you're not wrong at all. It's definitely lifted material. What country are you located in, if you don't mind me asking?

Duffy's cute, Sweetie dahling... but for me not more than a regurgitated Lulu.

I'll wait to see what more she can to before I completely dismiss her, though.

I LOVE the Duffy cd, but what the hell does that have to do with Amy?
Like they both can't be successful?
I know a lot of people like to slap the "Amy" label on Duffy, but i don't think what they do is that similar.

And people that can't separate Amy's life/issues from her music are stoopid to me. One has nothing to do with the other. Amy's music is genius. Period.

I had the pleasure of seeing Duffy live a couple if weeks back at the Radio Big Weekend in Maidstone....

....I don't think she quite has the songs to compete with Amy yet, but....she has a much better voice, has a tremendous band behind her, seems to have a much better attitude, and, though it might be a bit shallow, is a hell of alot easier on the eye!! If she can get a couple more killer songs under her belt I think it will definately be a case of "Amy who??!"

Yep that's right, Amy looks like she's going the way of Lauren Hill, one big CD and not able to follow up , drugs and pressure to get to that same level takes it toll..but duffy will not have that problem because she's very average singer and her songs don't cut it in my book, so theres nothing to better or beat next time around just produce more of the same confused
Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..

I like them both. But there's an edge to Amy's music that makes it better to me. As much as I like Duffy, I'll admit she isn't bringing anything new to the table.

She's already had TWO fucking incredible releases!
Just because the US came to the party LATE, don't hate!
So she's not some fucking one-hit wonder.
Do your homework.

Homework?

Like I said, Duffy lifts shit from vintage Euro blues artists that you're not familiar with, and sounds like Lulu to boot.

Looks like you might need to be the one brushing up, son thumbs up!

Oh, i'm sorry was i talking to you?
Dude. I didn't say that Duffy was the end all be all, i said the album was enjoyable.
My problem with this particular topic is the Amy bias where people can't seem to separate her personal life from her music.

As far as who or what Duffy might borrow from, we can go back and forth if you like.

BUT don't assume "son".
I work in the music business (EMI) and have been in the business for 20 years or so.

Aight?

I do agree that AMY'S solid work shouldn't be confused with her current situation, however I am certain many wish her well, and want her to stick around
I have hope if Whitney can do it .Amy will too smile we all hit a dark road in life sometimes ...unfortunately the world is seeing her pain. This is what separetes her she's going through it all.

have you checked out ADELE ? seems like LOndoN is where the soul is music wise right now cool

Were you talking to me? Perhaps not, but:

1.The last time I checked, this was an open message board and all members are allowed to respond to posts. Anyone that would employ the phrases "fucking incredible" and "do your homework" in a post about Duffy's music (!), for those of us in Europe and have been watching these kids do retro music for the past 14 years.... you should EXPECT a response.

2.I wasn't comparing Duffy to Winehouse, so I don't even know where that reference about Winehouse came from on your end.

3. I'm not interested in going back and forth about who Duff borrowed from. I don't care to prove anything to you. I do know she's going to be proving some shit to an EU judge real soon with regards to that issue. Trust and believe.

4. Been in the game for 20 years you say? Happy to hear it- lovely for you thumbs up!. Being in the grind that long then you obviously see how Duffy is essentially the 21st century Lulu. That's where Duffy stands for me, period. She's bloody Lulu for 2008- I'm just waiting for her to break out into "Shout" at any given moment. Christ on a bicycle, next she'll be naming her 2nd record "Love Loves to Love Duffy" and people will be calling it (to borrow from your previous post) "fucking incredible" !

rolleyes

Enjoyable yes. Fucking incredible? A stretch. That's my opinion, not more, not less wink

Dude.

Do you READ?

The "fucking incredible" was in reference to Amy. Not Duffy.
Someone called Amy basically a "one hit wonder" and i was pointing out that she's put out in my mind two incredible albums. But a lot of people in the States haven't even heard anything off of "Frank".

I said that i enjoyed the Duffy album. Nothing more, nothing less.

And again, if you bothered to read anything i've posted thus far i've said that i don't get the comparisons between Amy and Duffy either as i don't find what they do being that similar.

Apparently you've got a major problem with Duffy, but calm down and read what i've written before you get all hot and bothered?
