There has been some killin' riffs in rock songs in the past (everybody favors "Smoke On The Water","Iron Man" and even "Frankenstein"). Yeah, those are cool as hell. I favor "Back In Black" and "Sweet Leaf" personally. But another one that ranks very high up on the list for me is "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult. Released in 77, to me, I think it's supremely bangin'. It has that cool 2 note sustain melody on top of the riff. To me, it's one of the best intros ever in rock. I always dug this song, even as a kid. Love the lyrics too. Who else here digs this song that don't mind posting?

Love this song! Always have. And it's in my head constantly lately, thanks to some commercial. Catchy as all hell, this song is!

I love the guitar in this song because, in a very good way, it feels like 1977. I have only their greatest hits. Are there full albusm worth getting?

I know this is wrong to admit. I got into this song after 3rd Bass sampled it for "Problem Child." My cousin wanted a live version of it for a song. I did the drums really easy on the MPC. I tried to replay the melody on keys and it sucked. I called my friend, Jeff who played guitar to the studio. Jeff was like "No I will not butcher Godzilla!"

Great song and obviously a big inspiration for Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Fu Manchu covered this and its even better the BOC version. they slow the riff down a little and the whole thing is just so cool. Check it out you'll love it.
