I love when we do threads like these. It reminds me to pull out certain CDs and hear the REAL JAMS.

I still have the 12"(45) version. Got crates full of those old late 70s-early 80s dance jams.

I'm gonna have to steal those crates away from you lol

Thanks. I don't remember ever hearing it on the radio back in 1983. I first started hearing it in the 1990s after shit hop had taken over and one of the R&B stations here that had been around for years and played the newest music, changed their format to a "Soft Soul" format because so many people hated shit hop. Too bad they didn't change to a funk format. lol

A very solid, well respected group that found its stride under the SOLAR label in the 1980s. My favorite songs from The Whispers:

01.) "And the Beat Goes On"
02.) "Lady"
03.) "My Heart Your Heart"
04.) "Keep On Lovin' Me"
05.) "A Song for Donny"
06.) "Olivia (Lost and Turned Out)"
07.) "In the Raw"
08.) "Contagious"
09.) "Just Gets Better with Time"
10.) "Is It Still Good to You"

If you ever come across the 'Love For Love' album while on a vinyl dig, pick it up.It's a strong album that contains four solid hit singles:
"Tonight"
"Do They Turn You On"
"Keep On Lovin Me"
"This Time" (a very nice ballad)

Me too nod "Rock Steady" was a nice comeback hit for them, just when it seemed like the hits were drying up.

I think it's out-of-print. I was hoping to find it at Amoeba, but no luck so far.

I like damn near EVERYTHING by The Whispers especially their slow jams but my ALL TIME favorite is "I ONLY MEANT TO WET MY FEET!" I've lost count of how many times I've seen them live and that's a song I just can't keep from singing along with them. It's embarrassing! biggrin
