confused Why all the snark?

cause it's true and it's sad. maybe she'd tour more if it was different. i could imagine doing the same routine for 23 24 years gets very boring very quickly.

I know a few people that feel the way you do and this is why I’m a little hesitant of going especially since I got burned on All For You. My friends are definitely not going but I’m still on the fence. Maybe I can buy a ticket after reviews come out.

Well, then simply stay away! When I pay 100 $ to see Janet, then I want to see a majority of her hits (in a recognizable version)... and that's exactly what you get, next to getting a lot of songs of the current album... on the Janet tour she did 8 songs from that album, on the VR Tour she did 9 songs from that album, on the AFY she did 8 songs from that album so what the fuck do you want?
Contrary to Madonna, who shits on the majority of her hits and who, when she's kind enough to play one or two, plays them in a non recognizeable version! I'm not saying that what Madonna does is crap, but that also doesn't leave you satisfied... someone is always complaining! So before you complain, why don't just wait until the setlist is revealed?

I agree its a difficult thing to broach, ensuring there are enough hits to satisfy fans, and enough new ones to keep themselves interested. I think 8-9 songs is a fair amount of new stuff to play, but i want to hear new versions of the old stuff because its just more interesting. Fitting in your old stuff with your new stuff is part of the challenge too.

Amazingly part of the appeal of going to see Madge & Janet - and why they can probably command higher ticket prices - is their old hits. One of the constant criticisms i hear about M shows is her lack of playing old stuff - but i think her last tour was the first time she just about got it right. One of the things i love about her live shows is that theyre completely different from the previous one.

Ive never seen Janet live, from what ive seen on TV she puts on an entertaining show. Having not bought any of her stuff since Velvet Rope, and only liking a handful of songs off each album, im gonna be more inclined to wanna hear the old stuff - but she's got 3 albums to tour with this next one - shes gonna struggle to get as many old hits in. Fans are gonna have to accept that.

I have to echo that as a fan I am completely uninterested in hearing updated versions of old classics. They're classics for a reason. So what if she changes up the choreography and arrangement of Escapade or Nasty - it's not as if she's actually going to be able to improve on the originals. If she does update everything, people are going to bitch and moan when it doesn't live up to their expectations. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. I want to hear a rock version of That's The Way Love Goes about as much as I want to hear Cliff Richard perform a live duet with Janet on Two To The Power of Love ill

That being said, I think she WILL change it up this time, at least with respect to choreography and setlist.

If I spend all this money to see Janet for the first time, I'm going to be pissed if she doesn't do "Rhythm Nation" -- yes, the same "tired" routine -- and "Alright" -- yes, with the zoot suits. mad

If that's the way you feel about it, the number posted is fake. The real number is 1-900-MIXALOT (to kick them nasty thoughts).

"Rhythm Nation" I understand although I think you can do something different with it. Maybe start it off as a slower track or something and then do the entire thing as she always does. It's cool. I like it as well....Now the zoot suits. I mean, to me "Alright" is just one of Janet's top tens. It's good but just there. Sort of the way I feel about "Hanky Panky" with Madonna....It's hardly memorable. In fact, both suffer by being connected with a created "flashback" (and longing for a time that neither Janet or Madonna lived in). I don't care what she does, but "Alright" is all filler! Why not bring back "Because of Love"? Madonna, you going to break out "Causin' A Commotion" anytime soon? Those are two tracks that I like but if you ask Janet and Madonna respectively, they are not given much consideration.

She ain't going to do five songs off the album (let alone two). Only my three! Actually, those 3 would have been good if she toured DJ. Her doing songs that weren't singles from DJ and 20YO....I really got wonder about that. It might not be totally out of the questions...Fans love "Enjoy" and it would be a crowd pleaser even for those that do not have the album. But that does not seem like Janet's style. She do most of the work of creating a show for 20YO (which would have made a lot of sense to tour...she came back surprisingly quickly with "Discipline" in relation to 20YO....maybe not the best idea, Def Jam/JD).

Also, judging by SNL, she was probably also doing some work playing a show for DJ (I mean, she performed "Strawberry Bounce" and I don't think there was ever consideration for that being a single. "I Want You" would have been added to the ballads mix and "All Nite" could have opened or closed the show (mostly likely opened or at least in the first section).

I think I would have liked an DJ tour more than a 20YO it had better tracks but suffered from poor sequencing.

Janet wants feedback.

If you saw on Ellen Janet wants fans to tell her how her next tour will go. There is a special number, you call it and tell her what songs you want to hear on The Rock Wit U Tour.

I think she needs to go with a set somewhat like Al4U and Rythm Nation. A multileveled set. It will probrably be her usaual of lots of dancers, songs throughout her career and medleys specifically The Whimsical.

I think she should open with a new song. Let's start off with the tourdates. She needs to hurry up and get to Europe. They haven't seen her in over 10 years and record sales are dropping. She's not like Michael and many artists where she'll tour part of one continent, then do part of another, then come back to the continent. So since it starts in Vancouver looks like it's gonna be all North America this Fall and maybe first part of Winter.

I think there should be lots of floor space and one big monitor int he center with 2 on the sides. Janet likes to arrive hoisted high so there should be an elevato r in addition to the ones I think she needs that can hold the kids and band.. Maybe some sort of a B-stage that jets out into the audience. Of course there's gonna be pyro. Lots od lighting too Have a walkway that goes across the top of the stage like Rythm Nation.

Setlist

Alnite
Get it out me
Feedback
Rockwitu
With U/Come Back 2 Me/Let's Wait Awhile/That's The Way Luv Goes
So Excited
Show Me
What Have U Done 4 Me/Diamonds/Pleasure Principle/Miss U Much/Son Of A Gun
2Nite
Runaway/Escapade/When I think Of You/Dreamstreet/Luv Will Never Do(Exotic)
Call On Me
So Much Betta
I want U
Discipline(W/guy)
If
Control

-encore-

Rythm Nation
LUV
Nasty
Go Deep
Luv A Little While
All4U

During discipline all the girls and Janet will pull a guy on stage.
During the exotic mix starting with Runaway they are in a mix of places around the globe. Sort of a vacation or exotic getaway. his leads right into Call On Me.

She shoudd do 3 in Chicago, New York and LA. 2 in Houston, Miami, and DC.

Opening act Rhianna and Pink. some days.

I want to see here in a red top and miniskirt sometime. SHe's gonna wear her favourite color black. Color her hair Red,Yellow, and Blue like in Velvet Rope
SHe should fill the venue with the aroma of sweet smelling perfume.

Then she heads right over to Europe. Does some African shows. Take a break, then hit SOuth America, then Asia, and the tour finally in Australia. The stage should be somewhat changeable like All4U and lots of props..

A DJ tour would have kicked ass. Problem is there is a lot of filler, but hopefully she would focus on the killer! Hopefully the porn ballads would not be touched nor would "My Baby" (useless!) or "Island Life" (I know it has fans, but it probably can't translate well to stage).

You've really thought about this...Looks very feasiable except for an encore that long. It drepesses me to think about her going safe and usual so I'll go for a semi-reasonable setlist. Very rough draft:

2Nite
What Have You Done For Me Lately
So Much Betta

Never Lethcu Go/Let's Wait A While/I Want You/Can't B Good/Again

Luv
That's The Way Love Goes
So Excited

Escapde/Runaway/Miss You Much/Rollercoaster
Enjoy
Pleasure Principle (this would make whimsical worth if to have two my faovrites back to back!)

Rhythm Nation
I Get Lonely
Nasty

Control
Discipline

Rock With U
A Little While
Love Will Never Do With You

Encore:
All Nite
If

Together Again
Feedback

I'm probably forgetting a ton of the biggies...I know one I did not forgot...Just did not put on there!

Janet Jackson Announces Rock Witchu Tour

The iconic performer will pull from her celebrated collection of music which has sold over 100 million albums worldwide

LOS ANGELES, May 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Janet Jackson, who has undeniably influenced pop culture with over a 100 million album sold, countless hit singles, awards and accolades, announced the launch of her Rock Witchu tour on the Ellen DeGeneres Monday. This is Jackson's first tour in over seven years and is expected to feature the hit songs and innovative dance routines that have made her one of the most celebrated artists in history.

The Live Nation produced tour kicking off in Vancouver, BC on September 10th, will feature dates in DC, New Jersey, Montreal, and Toronto to name a few and is expected to hit major markets as it travels across the country. Tickets go on sale for the first shows beginning Saturday, June 7th, and are available at www.livenation.com. Confirmed dates are listed below with more dates to be announced shortly.

Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 tour was the biggest selling debut world-wide tour in history. The tour solidified her status as a trailblazing entertainer with cutting edge choreography, unparalleled stage production, theatrics and spectacles, winning over audiences across the board and breaking global box office records along the way. She wowed the world with over 100 performances in 90 cities. The first international shows were in Japan, where she sold out the Tokyo Dome (48,000 capacity) with four shows in seven minutes, creating the record for the fastest sell out in the history of the Tokyo Dome.

Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning June 2 at 10am ET through Citi's Private Pass Program(R). For complete presale details visit: www.privatepass.citi.com. "We are excited to offer Citi(R) cardmembers special access to the newly-announced Janet Jackson 2008 tour," said Vik Atal, Chairman and CEO, Citi Cards. "The tour is a great example of the benefits of our alliance with Live Nation which enables us to provide our cardmembers with once-in-a-lifetime experiences through our unique Private Pass Program."

Jackson has launched www.JanetFanClub.com, a dedicated tour website for the Rock Witchu Tour where the public can sign up for access to presale tickets, exclusive content, contests and worldwide community of Jackson fans and more. Pre-registration has now begun for the website, which will go live on May 28th, with early access to presale ticketing starting May 30th at 10am. Registrants will have the ability to access future presales for additional dates as they are announced. To find out more, visit www.JanetFanClub.com starting May 28th.

Jackson has left an indelible mark on pop music selling more than 100 million albums and as a female artist having achieved the number one spot on Billboard Magazine's Top 200 Album Chart 6 times, is among the top 3 of all time for a female artist. She is the only performer male or female to be nominated for Grammy Awards in each of the Pop, Rock, Dance, Rap and R&B categories, and the first female recording artist of color to be nominated for a Producer of the Year Grammy. With literally hundreds of awards and nominations from everyone from the American Music Awards where she holds the title for most nominations from one album, to MTV where she was awarded the first ICON award, to the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Radio Music Awards, World Music Awards, Billboard, Rolling Stone, NAACP, etc., the recognitions of her musical contributions are astounding.

I don't know how I'm gonna sing this one with a straight face, but here we go by popular request - Let's Wait Awhile

"Enjoy"? Really? That wasn't even a single and JD says it isn't urban enough but you wanted to hear it....

lol For real, that is one I would love to hear.

I would call but I don't want to be getting updates about pre-orders and shit. Hopefully enough people call up for that one so she throws it into the mix. I have an internet connection.

It would probably be to her benefit if she did mostly Discipline and only a few oldies. Snap people into the NOW.

I would DIE if Janet did ANY song from her first two albums. But I've read that she doesn't like that period in her recording career because her father had a lot of control in her life. neutral
