Your favorite Duran Duran member

So, I'm listening to "Decade" for the first time in a LONNNG time, and I'm floored anew by the formula these cats used to put out hit after hit. They were dismissed as video babes during MTV's heyday -- and they truly benefited from the heavy video rotation -- but they had some serious songs underneath all the hype.

So, who's your favorite?

All these years later, it's the groove laid by John Taylor and his subtle, funky bass-playing.

He's my fave.

They are all so dreamy.

And the fact that I would post that is a good indication that I have been on this site way too long.

I think Roger's the most handsome, but I like Simon's personality the most. He was hilarious in concert, especially when some woman jumped onstage and had to be pulled off him by security. And mind you, this was 2008! So anyway, Simon made up lyrics to "Girls on Film" about the girl who "grabbed his arse." It's on YouTube.

If you asked me this question at another time, though, I might have completely different answers.

That's so funny that U mention them. I just saw them play here in Vegas last weekend and it was a really cool show. Now that I'm older, I can afford to see these musicians who influenced me throuout my teen years. Seen Prince 33 times, seen MJ, and next month it's George MIchael. Duran Duran were the first. I was living in a shelter for abused children and there was this girl who was 16 and I was 12 who was a huge fan and got me into them. Heck my first wallet was a Duran Duran wallet. I no longer wear eye liner/shadow 2 the clubs but damn DD were great and hugely influently.

I was at the Las Vegas shows as well. Too bad I didn't know earlier, we could have met up.

What about Nick Rhodes? I think he's so cool and the synthesizers are such a big part of Duran Duran.

Never really liked the band or any member in particular.
(Simon Le Bon's voice is particularly annoying headache ).

But I did enjoy John Taylor's bass playing on A View to a Kill.
( hmmm If there was only an instrumental version ) cool

I really didn't like Duran Duran in the 80's.

The songs on the radio were okay, but never bought one of their albums.

Funny thing is, I REALLY like them now and actually liked their last release.

That being said, I still have only seen their videos and heard them on the radio. I've still have never bought one of their albums/cd's.

I don't think I even know who plays what in that group.

John - guitar, bass or lead I don't know
Nick - synths (which I thought was important to the band)
and Simon - lead vocals... I don't know anyone else who ever sang for the group

Nick Rhodes nod, cos he's the chief of DD's sound and style

John Taylor was (and still is) the coolest member, though

I left out all kinds of people because I don't really know the group that well.

I heard most of the albums and all the hits though.
