Not a fan of his, but I was hoping Sony would've put out a CD/DVD for Maxwell similar to this. It's a good way to lure newer fans, and the older fans would buy strictly for the DVD content. Hey, it's called "Best so far", not greatest hits. I agree though about artists with 2 or 3 albums releasing a hits collection. "Best of" is more appropriate. Which REALLY makes me think he's TRULY done! nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

Its Prettymansson in a new spring 2008 body ! I hear ya...He's super soulful..But, light years away from Prince when it comes to gettin WORK done ! & Focusing on his Career. A shame because he was truly in the position to be the Next Man about 8 years ago ! Bishop31 said: I still don't see how anyone can even remotely compare this cat to Prince. [Edited 5/8/08 13:49pm] Prettymansson!..What's up, Bro. For some reason I thought that was U, by ur posts. Also, I can remember U using that picture b4 as ur Avator. I wanna hear ur music sometime!, I remember u saying that u play....drop me somethin'.. Yea, D'angelo was a damn waste of talent, the way he let his career fall, just when he was getting hot. That's why I really can't compare him to Prince. No focus, can't play a kick ass Guitar solo, & is not that hot of a dancer! But hey, different strokes I guess..

The thing is though, it's human nature to make comparisons. You can't blame D'Angelo for taking a page out of Prince's book early in his career... he was, or hopefully still is, on a path to something unique and special himself... learning from the legends is all part of that. It's hard to deny the influences of certain artists when you see him performing on the Voodoo tour like this: http://www.youtube.com/wa...syswiA91bM It's also hard to deny that he gives everything he has to his performances and lets himself truly get taken away by the music which is a trait of all the greats! D's a great performer! A couple more tours refinement of his style and you'd prob be bowing _ Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

He needs to pull a Lauryn.
Start crying and singing behind a piano. No, he's not Prince, but the kid isn't Alicia Keys either.

I saw him doing that "hump the stage" thing. When I saw that I knew he was watching Prince. Hopefully he learns the focus that kept Prince around all these years.

The "so far" there is clearly meant to indicate that there will be more. Whether or not that is going to happen is a different deal, but after a long hiatous a compilation might be released several months (or a year) before a new full-length will be out just to get the name back on the record store shelves and some chart listings.

Oh yeah, I've gotta say the "sexy" album cover photo is a bit too much considering what the artist in question most likely looks these days. Sure you can use non-recent photos to accompany non-recent recordings, but in this case I'd have to wonder whether D'Angelo himself feels all too comfortable about these kind of things anymore.

If that is true, why release this rehash project? Because his team is yelling that they want him to work more samples into his records and cheapen them enough for a shit hop artist to rap over them and they also want him to make his stuff more appealing to neoshit lovers. That and he doesn't have the stones to get his stuff out without them or maybe he's a Winehouse
