obsession alert Wouldn't say obsession, just casual observation. I guess why Iam getting into her whole attractiness issue is because the amount of people who fancy the shit outta her rather puzzles me. And no I dont hate Mariah. Nor do I obsess about her. "all in my mind" is one of my fav songs of hers, so Iam a casual fan at least. And no, it doesn't bother me about her image/mental age really, just another, rather obvious observation. Iam not fussed about how many octaves a singer can hit (look at opera singers for some hardcore singing), and infact, voice doesn't really affect me much at all. But to give Jennifer credit, she has a decent (if limited) voice, and is quite pure to my ears. Mariah murdered "without you" "hero" and even ruins the great "anytime yu need a friend", by goin' too far on the adlibs. Maybe working with Walter Afansief brought out the Michael Bolton in her, as Wally worked with Bolton aswell. Its annoying when its too much. I agree, and this goes for most talented singers, less is more  At this point in history, we have a choice to make

But Maria's sooo consistent in the structure of her songs (especially her ballads), how she arranges melodies and backing vocals, it's pretty apparent that she writes the bulk of her own material...additionally, a lot of people don't know that she's fairly competent at the mixing board as well, and stays right next to the engineer until the very last mix of her records. My ex has done studio work with her (Celine Dion too), and he was amazed at her stamina, said she could work everybody there under the table til the sun came up... [Edited 5/6/08 0:58am] | |

I kinda guessed that whoever is first on the songwriting list did the most work, but on the albums I have of hers, she does always seem to co-write. It wouldn't affect my enjoyment of her music even if she did write all by herself, but people claiming she wrote all her stuff is just not true. What was your ex's name bytheway?
