Just a nostalgia rant...

Listen up recording industry...

Today I started transferring my old cassettes to digital, and (as if I hadn't already muttered this to myself previously) one thing kept hitting me with each track played through....

ENTIRE ALBUMS ROCKED! - yes, not just one, two, mebbe three tracks. The ENTIRE album rocked back then. Not every track had to have radio time for it to get listened to.

The industry is blaming lack of CD sales to MP3 downloads, the retailers are saying the pricing is too high. Bottom line is that the consumer is smarter than they think. Most CD's aren't worth the money, which is why people have shifted to getting single tracks of MP3's for songs that they do like, and as for price, I can tell you that I am virtually paying just as much for a CD today as I was for vinyl and cassettes back then.

*sigh* I miss the 80'2 smile

LOL Of course I'm cheap!! lol

I don't see why I should go out and pay for something I already own which mostly just collects dust because there is so many good songs, so little time! Seriously, I don't have the time (or money) to hunt down to replace the hundreds of vinyl and cassettes in my collection, would be a shame to not be able to listen to them occassionaly because I have nothing left to play them on.

Mebbe it's not just the industry that changed...

People change too. Popmusic isn't better or worse now, the person listening to it since the 80s has different ears. When you dig a little deeper you'll find a lot of music that you can still enjoy from start to finish.

Didn't Madonna make music in the 80s too?
