Songs that instantly push your childhood nostalgia buttons

THIS is the stuff I remember blasting out of my mom's 8-track car stereo (AM Radio, natch) when we'd tool around town to the mall or go to Target back when it was called Ayr-Way and people could smoke in the store and the shopping carts had built-in ashtrays.

DAMN, I'm old. lol

Anyway, this is the golden cheese of my tender years:

Gerry Rafferty, "Right Down the Line"

Yvonne Elliman, "If I Can't Have You"

Nicolette Larson, "Lotta Love"

Player, "Baby Come Back"

Paul Davis, "I Go Crazy"

Olivia Newton John, "Totally Hot"

(and if they had Rita Coolidge's version of "Higher and Higher" on YouTube, it would be here too lol )

Now share some songs that take YOU back to childhood.

The Smashing Pumpkins - '1979'

...might not be childhood, but adolescence... It instantly reminds me of 8th grade, MTV, and hanging out with my friends

Madonna - 'Who's That Girl'

...spent much of my early years infatuated with Madonna, and this was the first song I can remember hearing when it was still new.. I must've been about 4 years old, but I have vivid memories of the song and the stupid movie promo video that was spun endlessly.

The entire Cosmic Thing album by The B-52's, especially 'Roam' and 'Channel Z'

...after Madonna, the B-52's were the first group that I was really into. I think I got this for Christmas in '89 or '90 and played it so much that my mother still can't bear to hear it.

Depeche Mode - 'Enjoy the Silence' and 'Policy of Truth'

...reminds me of summer nights spent out on the patio with my mother and father while they'd spin Violator.
I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Wow, there are so many I could choose, but I'll show y'all just a few of the songs that stick out from my childhood, some local favorites that almost no-one here knows:

Queen - The Invisible Man:

MC Hammer - Can't Touch This:

2 Unlimited - No Limit

Icy - Gleðibankinn (Bank of Fun) (it's the Icelandic entry for the Eurovision song contest in 1986 - mimed on some charity TV show biggrin )

Bubbi Morthens (yep, THAT Bubbi, Anx razz ) - Aldrei fór ég suður (Never Moved to the City) - "unplugged":

Songs that make me long to ride to grade school in my mom's old Dodge...

Vanessa Williams - Comfort Zone
Shanice - I Love Your Smile
Sade - Kiss of Life
TLC - Ain't Too Prouad to Beg
Jodeci - Forever My Lady

These in particular always bring back memories of sleeping in the backseat, PB&J sammiches, fingernail polish, and Estee Lauder perfume cloud9
If you will, so will I

Jefferson Starship - "Sarah":

The Moody Blues - "Your Wildest Dreams":

Michael Jackson - "Human Nature" (dunno why youtube doesn't have the official vid):
"Try to remember how you used to feel about me
and think about how you're treating me now.
Then try to reconcile them, if you can.
But you don't even remember, do you?"
