Very beautiful performance. I feel she is very underrated compare to the rest of the female artist of today. Thank you for sharing. smile

I'd forgotten about Faith Evans. The volume is too quiet on that link, although the song sounds a bit boring to me. However, I've long thought Faith Evans was a great vocalist. Definitely one of the best of the '90s breed, although I never liked her material. I also thought Brandy had a beautiful voice.

You find what is ostensibly Patti's signature song boring? Even all the great screaming at the end?

I don't hold Patti in the same reverence others do. Have to be honest though, I only watched a minute of the performance because the volume was too low and I felt like I'd heard it all before, even though I don't know that song, it just felt a little trite on first listen. shrug I really just wanted to compliment Faith's voice which I always thought was great. And unlike so many of her peers she uses it tastefully.

I'm not the biggest Patti fan either, but I figured you didn't listen to the whole thing. I've always loved the screaming in that song. She has a tendency to overdo it in a lot of songs, but it always seemed to work so well in "You Are My Friend" -- at least partially because of the way it kind of meanders in the beginning.

lol, I just checked the volume setting on my computer and it was turned way down. No wonder I could barely hear that song. lol

Check this song:

The part where she sings You hold me in your loving arms, always sounded EXACTLY what would come outta Billie Holiday's mouth, a VERY short tribute but you get the message.

Where is Faith these days? She has so much potential and is a very talented singer, i'm suprised her career didn't take off in the way that say Mary J. Blige's did.
