I know that most of the people on the Org hate American Idol, but since radio, MTV, and VH1 do such a poor job of breaking new music these days, it's still one of the biggest ways to break new artists. It's still the highest rated TV show on American television, but its ratings have gone down about 7 to 10% this season. While that's pretty much in line with all network TV shows, Fox executives are possibly looking to push the panic button.

Specifically, it lists a lot of survey questions about Ryan Seacrest and Paula Abdul. Could one of these people be getting yanked off the show?

there is no one on that show right now whos album I would go out and buy. I only bought Fantasia's second album and own Ruben's first one but otherwise...none of them on this season does it 4 me

i think popular music goes back and forth between a taste for synthetic/manufactured music and earthy/gutsy/singer-songwriter-y music. when one is popular, the other suffers. the past 8 to 10 years have been a synthetic pop goldmine, and i think the time is ripe for a change in direction. when that happens, american idol is going to be a casualty of the change in direction...at least until people are tired of angsty artistic expression crap and realize they want their mindless feel-good music back...then maybe they can do a redux of american idol again.

Like any other PHASE it just dies out. Whether its the 90's and RB male Groups, or the 80's and Metal hair bands, or the late 90's Teen-Pop, everything has its moment, and when the MOMENT is nothing more than a fad, the shit just goes away, plain and simple. Stop trying to save something that should die. Sure talent has come from it, Ruben, Carrie Underwood, Katharine McPhee etc.. but for the most part the show is a joke.

Finally Brooke got the boot. I missed the show but I'm sure she gave a lot of TEARS.

Nobody who appears on American Idol is an artist. All the contestants are clay begging to be molded into an image that will sell albums to casual music fans.

All they need to do is copy the changes made in the UK. Instead of Pop Idol, have a year of Pop stars, or Pop Stars: the Rivals.

I watch it sometimes, its entertaining

But if anything, Paula needs to go, She cant even put one sentence together and drives me crazy waiting for her to finish her pointless judging.
She is sweet and all, but she's painful to listen to!

I've watched AI since season 1 and these last couple of seasons have been disappointing. It's now getting boring and their weekly themes have got to go.
