Rare Michael Jackson song - funky as hell

This song I´ve found on YouTube by Michael Jackson is soo cool. For me very James Brown inspired.
Although Prince is no 1 to me (closely followed by Michael smile, he isnt able to get this expression vocally as Michael did in this song.

Didn't even check out the track 'cause I knew it was 'Sunset Driver'. It's an 1979 outtake, either for 'Off the Wall' or 'Triumph'. Oh and, Funky indeed.

Yes a very good song. Too bad it was never release on a real album. It could've fit in nicely on Off The Wall or Triumph.

He was at Havenhurst and around midnight went to get a glass of milk and seen a spider. That's the reason you here the "whooo" in the track.

my bf and I used to call this one "Spider Biter" because it came out around the time he got that spider bite on his foot when he showed up (or didn't show up) for court falloff

from where do you know that? was it a joke? well, i don't mind brainless lyrics in dance songs but to rhyme sunset driver with midnight spider just for the rhyme of it appalls me.

and the spider bite was in late 2002, no? or at the end of 2003. but the track was released in 2004

I love this song. It's so funky. Like I always say though, some of MJ's unreleased material is better than some of the tracks that have made his albums.

I love this video someone on youtube made for the song:

But falloff at the comments about the lyrics in this thread. I always thought the correct lyrics were:

Sunset driver
Midnight rider
Friday's Spider or Friday's Brighter
Gettin' higher

confused

i don't have the Ultimate box set. fans always argued whether it was written for OTW or Triumph?
does anyone of you know something? I'd sooo love to listen to some of the OTW outtakes.

You should. The unreleased songs are worth it. nod
