they shouldn't play her. she has never been legimately hip hop or R&B. she always goes back to 'urban' influences in her music when she needs it to increase her airplay on radio ('justify my love' after i'm breathless, 'bedtime stories' after the SEX book scandal, now 'hard candy' after radio ignored 'confessions'), but she has never really done music that that fits with that channel. I am surprised they would play Timberlake, being that he has ripped off every major black pop star (MJ, Prince, Janet, Usher) and then disses half of them.

I thought the point of BET was to promote the visibility of African American artits, not a genre of music. Just like the NAACP is for the rights of black people against discrimination.
I don't watch it a lot, but don't they play black artists like Lenny Kravitz who aren't R&B or hip hop?
So why would they play Madonna or Justin even if they do hip hop influenced tracks?

Take A Bow was an R&B "hit" and Human Nature was released to black radio. Back in the day, I remember seeing Holiday on BET also. I believe it also charted on the r&b charts.

It's all about the music climate today where rap artists or
hybrid rap/r&b artists dominate bet. I remember when i was
in high school some of her songs like borderline, holiday,
get into the groove,like a virgin, and angel would get
airplay on black radio in my area.
