If they keep jamming like they did on the "A Funk Odyssey" and "Dynamite" albums, I will definately be awaiting their new album.

Sorry, but those two albums aren't in the same league a "Emergency On Planet Earth", "Return Of The Space Cowboy" or "Traveling Without Moving". Pretty much an entirely different band and sound. Just doesn't do it for me.

Not only that, but several tracks on those newer ones have OFF KEY SINGING. It's painful, just painful.

I totally adored this band until A Funk Odyssey, like you said...after almost everyone leaving...it's never been the same.

MORE REAL !!!!!
Less predictable...
There were brazilian vibes..world music vibes..
Jazz/Funk
Latin..
Classic funk..
and a bit of late 70's disco vibes...
All with more social conscious lyrics..and positive messages.

All that diversity is what I didn't like. None of it was fast enough either.

Now its straight predictable disco grooves with cool basslines and strings..
But, IMO once you have heard a handful of these types of jams they all start to sound the same !! Derivative and one dimensional.and the lyrics mean nothing..

Lyrics are for the brain. I like my music for my ass so the style change was right up my alley. lol

I have a soft spot for any modern-day artist with an Old School funk/disco sound lol We need to bring that sound back!!

Hell, it should have never left. If people hadn't become so damn dull, it would have never left in the first place.

Jamiroquai makes music as if we're still in 1978 and I'm not complaining one bit. They know a thing or two about grooves and unlike most of today's R&B music, there's no hip-hop influence in their music.I appreciate that.Jamiroquai is like a modern-day Chic,Heatwave or Kleeer.'A Funk Odyssey' is my favorite album from this decade. It's a perfect, flawless modern-day disco album.

Same here. "A Funk Odyssey" and "Dynamite" are the only albums I like this entire decade other than the Prince albums released. Everything else is too damn dull and slow.

They fell off for me after Travelling Without Moving, when I felt like they were just doing Stevie-doing-disco rehashes over and over. Maybe since it's been awhile Jay Kay has all that out of his system and will move in another direction. I might give this a shot.

nod Absolutely! When they came out they were heavy. Then Jay became a full blown pop star, and lost his edge. Ever since then they've just been a cheap and cheerful tribute band.

Now I have the post Stu albums (pretty good stuff), I thought they were great on live at Abbey Road..... But,..... and this is a sir mix a lot big ole' butt.....

Without Stu, you lose that unteachable, unreachable, place in a person's soul who is just made to ooze smooth nasty funk.

His basslines are not only inventive and slinky, but they work in the context of the song.

His lack of presence in the music world in the last few years is one of the biggest losses IMO.

He simply was refreshing and real. I hope that he releases something either solo, band, or a Jamiroquai reunion.

He is around...on tours..and on records...

After Jamiroquai, Zender had his own project called "AZUR" which signed a record deal with Virgin US. However the project was shelved and was then available on the internet for a short time. He has also worked with numerous artists, including All Saints, Omar, Lauryn Hill, Gorillaz, Ms. Dynamite and many others including the legendary Stevie Wonder. He also dated singer Melanie Blatt of former UK girl group All Saints. The two were together for seven years. Together they have one daughter Lilyella.

Some of Stuart's most recent work has been with his latest band "LEROI". They were signed onto Geffen Records however the deal fell through much like "AZUR". Zender left "LEROI" in the summer of 2006 to join Mark Ronson's touring band.

Zender has been working with Mark Ronson since 2006. The release of the album "Version" in 2007 proved to be a larger success than first expected mainly due to the large success of the single "Stop Me", which Zender plays bass on, on the album itself along with another song "Apply Some Pressure".

Thanks to the success he has performed with Ronson at numerous popular events such as "Radio 1's Big Weekend" and "Glastonbury". Ronson will be starting his own headlining U.K. tour in October.

Recently Zender has just set up his own record label "White Buffalo Recordings".

Thank you for the update.

I had heard of the 2 projects that got shelved, but have not actually heard them. I think his own label is the way to go, this way he can release the shelved projects if he owns the masters.

Glad to hear he is playing on stuff, too much talent to let it go to waste!
