Jamiroquai are working on a new album

Since the beginning of this year,Jamiroquai has been working on a new album.Eleven tracks have already been recorded. The band recently left Sony Records but according to bandmember Matt Johnson:

"There are offers from different labels, but nothing is decided yet.We want to make a new album first and then see what we will do.The new album will be "fresh"...maybe it will be released by the end of the year but nothing is certain. We have loads of ideas."

thumbs up! I could use some new Jamiroquai jams!

That's good news. Looking forward to that

It'd be great if Jay Kay could find some time to produce Michael Jackson's next album as well instead of Will I Am, Akon, Ne Yo...zzzzz.....

Indeed!! I don't know why Michael wastes his time with hip-hop producers. That's just not his style. He needs to get back to an Old School funk/disco sound, which Jamiroquai specializes in these days.Their 'A Funk Odyssey' CD came out around the same time as 'Invincible' and I was much more impressed with the Jamiroquai CD.It's a much more "authentic" R&B/dance/funk album, with no traces of hip-hop.That sound would be perfect for Michael!

Sweet!! Despite all the stick that they get, particularly Jay Kay, I love their music...something funky for the charts again...more power to them!

Agreed on Funk Odyssey being a better potential Michael Jackson album than Invincible.

Yes, something that sounds more like Off the Wall would be great with disco strings, slapping bass and great harmonies.

Instead, I suspect we're going to get (if it's ever recorded, let alone released) another Invincible with the sort of over fussy, cluttered production that makes it sound like someone was falling down a flight of stairs with a tool kit during the recording.

If they keep jamming like they did on the "A Funk Odyssey" and "Dynamite" albums, I will definately be awaiting their new album.

Sorry, but those two albums aren't in the same league a "Emergency On Planet Earth", "Return Of The Space Cowboy" or "Traveling Without Moving". Pretty much an entirely different band and sound. Just doesn't do it for me.

Actually, you will be shocked to know this but Stuart Zender said himself that that is NOT him playing bass on the album version of "Space Cowboy." In an interview that can be found on the forum of his website, www.stuartzender.co.uk, he says that he was away and dealing with personal issues when Jay decided to get a studio pro to record the bass part for the album version of Space Cowboy. Stuart only plays on the version that was released as a single...the one on the video.

I know they aren't like their previous albums, that's the reason I like them better. The previous ones aren't fast enough in tempo, have too much jazz influence, and are the verge of sounding a little artsy/fartsy. The ones I listed are straight out disco/funk made for shaking ass and shaking ass only which is what I've always loved and always will.

Fair enough, but it's like Prince's Dirty Mind through Sign o the Times. No matter what he releases today it just won't stand up to that material.
Emilio319, the video version of Spaced Cowboy is Stuart and much more funky and less jazzy than the album version anyways.

MORE REAL !!!!!
Less predictable...
There were brazilian vibes..world music vibes..
Jazz/Funk
Latin..
Classic funk..
and a bit of late 70's disco vibes...
All with more social conscious lyrics..and positive messages.
Now its straight predictable disco grooves with cool basslines and strings..
But, IMO once you have heard a handful of these types of jams they all start to sound the same !! Derivative and one dimensional.and the lyrics mean nothing..
DANCE DANCE DANCE..DRIVE FAST CARS...DRUGS/Trying to get off Drugs...Parties...ect..confused

I didn't even become a Jamiroquai fan until the 'Synchronized' album in 1999.I guess I'm more a fan of their disco/funk phase,as opposed to their earlier acid-jazz phase.Don't get me wrong,I like the first few albums but I have a soft spot for any modern-day artist with an Old School funk/disco sound lol We need to bring that sound back!! Jamiroquai makes music as if we're still in 1978 and I'm not complaining one bit. They know a thing or two about grooves and unlike most of today's R&B music, there's no hip-hop influence in their music.I appreciate that.Jamiroquai is like a modern-day Chic,Heatwave or Kleeer.'A Funk Odyssey' is my favorite album from this decade. It's a perfect, flawless modern-day disco album.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT THEY ARE NASTAY !!!
No argument from me..but the early days are closer to where my heart is...
Im OLDSCHOOL to the BONE !!!
I even wear flared pants daily since like 1987 !lol
I can dig the late 70s vibes..But,Those first albums to me were more HEAVY !
More Important..More Groundbreaking !
personally Id rather hear a band do 10 types of grooves that ROCK rather than one that rocks..The 1st two albums will always be the REAL Jamiroquai to me..

I'm an old school Jamiroquai fan. The last two albums were pretty average IMO. The electro/disco thing just isn't happening for me. But now that the shackles of a longterm major record deal are behind them, who knows, maybe they will return to the good-oil Jamiroquai sound? Here's hoping anyway wink. The last track they released on Sony, "Radio" (a bonus track on the recent Best of album), was one of their best tracks in years IMO, so there's definately promise.
