Dude, like I told you before. Michael could have just been noodling at the piano. Maybe just seeing if he could make any sense of it. The point is, you would not be able to tell from a picture, so to ASSUME he is actually playing rather than just tinkering about is silly.

Let me emphasize, there is a difference between tinkering about randomly and actually playing. There is no evidence that he can play.

It's not FROM A PICTURE, It's FROM MANY PICTURES ... There are ton of pictures... All through the 70's and some beyond...

I don't see the point of MJ having so many pictures playing instruments, if all he can do is noodling ???

What's the point ???

He spent the entire '70s in recording studios and rehearsal halls. Since he wasn't in charge back then, that's a lot of time just standing around while people are setting up. It's only natural he's gonna noodle.

I don't know the point, but I play guitar and I've seen pictures of him holding a guitar, and he's obviously just posing. Same with the shots at the piano. Why? I have no idea.

I did see the pic of him playing drums, and he looked like he was actually playing. Playing well? who knows?

It wouldn't surprise me if Michael could play something, he's obviously a musical guy.

But I've seen Tito play guitar, I've heard it. And he's good. It's just strange that people assume Michael is excellent on keyboards, etc, when there's no real evidence of it other than a photo or a secondhand story.

falloff So you're telling me that not only is Michael a drummer, guitarist and pianist, but Marlon is also a saxophonist and Jackie is a dab hand on keys too. This picture proves all that, lol. Funny how they never shared the fruits of this session with the public, isn't it?

Who is assuming that Michael is excellent on keyboards, etc ???

The only ones assuming things are those who claimed straight up "he can't do nothing...

So do you think they are faking ???

Ok,I imagine the phtographer telling the Jacksons to ACT like if they really can play instruments, and make sure that it looks real enough to fool the public...

Here's a interview of Michael Jackson in 1971 telling that he can play drums and is learning piano :

http://www.time.com/time/...-3,00.html

And you gonna tell me that Michael is lying to the reporter...

To even say he is decent on keyboards is to make an assumption too, since there's no evidence to support that claim either. Michael is musical, but that doesn't mean he's taken the time to learn an instrument.

You just answered your own question to explain the pictures of him at the keys in the '70s. He was trying to learn how to play. That's what the pictures show. Someone trying to figure out the instrument, which was what I said earlier. Whether he ever got there in the end is another issue.

As for the drums, anyone can keep a basic beat going. I'm sure Michael can do that. Even Madonna can do that. She played drums in a band for a while. Michael was probably kidding himself though when he said he can play. Keep a primitive beat going for a few minutes? Sure. Play? I doubt it.

The interview is from mid 1971... When he was around 13... the various pictures I'm talking about have been taken at various times all through the 70's, and nothing tells you that in ALL THE PICTURES he was still "trying to learn how to play"...

Prince started learning instruments around the same age if I can remember ???

And the interview said clearly : Michael plays drums. He says he is learning piano too. "It's not hard. You just have to put your mind to what you doin'; that's all there is to it"

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

Look how stupid you sound, now you try to find excuses explaining that "anyone can keep a basic beat going"...

I think the point isn't YouTube specifically, but a guy who's lived his life in the public eye as much as Michael, it's odd that nobody's actually seen him play anything and there's no real evidence that he does.

Let this guy keep using my example of YouTube as the red herring for why he can't produce one solid piece of evidence to support his argument. lol I think it's quite amusing.

I just took a look at that article. You obviously regard it as credible. Well, in it Michael tells the story, in detail, of how Diana Ross discovered the Jackson 5. Here's the quote. "We started entering talent shows, and we won every one we entered, and then we did this benefit for the mayor [Richard Hatcher of Gary, Ind.], and Diana Ross was in the audience, and afterward we was in the dressin' room and Diana Ross knocked on the door, and she brought us to Motown in Detroit and that was it". Such a detailed account. It must obviously be true, right? Errr, no. Every word of it is a FUCKING LIE!! lol lol And this is the article you're using for proof he can play? lol lol A 37 year old puff piece that has obviously not been researched one bit. Dude, this is worse than pathetic. It's laughable.

Some more excerpts from the 37 year old article krayzie regards as credible and objective.

It's still a bit too chilly to swim just now, so after a little basketball the kids settle down to a game of pool. "I'm good on my trampolin," Michael remarks. "And I'm good at pool." "Not as good as me," says Jermaine. Back home in Gary, says Tito, "We all played Little League, and we all hit home runs during the series. We were always the best at everything." Somehow it sounds neither phony nor swellheaded —merely the truth.

The Motown PR used to send photos of Michael and his brothers "playing pool together" and playing basketball. The Jackson 5 didn't have time to actually enjoy all of that since Motown kept dragging them through concert to concert.

And I believed the Diana Ross story until "The Jacksons: An American Dream". lol

Exactly. If krayzie had a brain cell in his head he would recognize this article for the piece of manipulated PR fluff it is. Motown also had them lie about their age at this time. The whole image was manipulated and orchestrated carefully. A decent reporter could have easily found out this was all false, but they didn't want to because it was such a nice story.

HAHAHAHA, really pathetic... I refused to respond at first because it was so big lol , but I have to...

What do I find extraordinary laughable is how delusional and so desperate you are...

First of all, I love how you assume the fact that every single thing said in this article has to be lie because of the Diana Ross story...

Everybody knows that the Jacksons have lied about 2 major things :
-"who discovered them", and "Michael Jackson's age"...

This is what made the Jackson 5 legendary... Since day one, the public has constantly been doubtful about these 2 things...

But in no way, this article is assuming that what Michael Jackson said concerning isntruments was a lie or like the article said neither phony nor swellheaded merely the truth.
But you have decided to take the Diana Ross story as an example to discredit the ENTIRE interview and of course discredit the part where Michael claimed that he can play drums and was learning piano as well... lol lol lol

Just because the Jackson 5 have lied since day one about "who discovered them" means automatically that they have lied about EVERYTHING they said in this interview... lol

That makes no sense...

And taking the facts that :
-at that time they were constantly recording in studio and working with musicians
-at that time Randy Jackson the youngest brother learned playing various instruments from these musicians...
-and the fact that Motown never tried to promote Michael as an instrumentalist at ALL

It sounds very credible that Michael was in fact learning how to play piano since he were around musicians everyday, all day...

But taking the Diana Ross story to discredit his claim that he was actually learning instrument at that time is another lame attempt from you my friend ... Just pathetic lol

There is no reason to doubt about that claim, and there is no reason for Michael to lie specifically about the fact he could play drums, and was learning piano since Motown never tried to promote Michael as an instrumentalist like Stevie Wonder by example...

Just because he lied about the Diana Ross story and his age, means that he lied about absolutly everything he said... Just plain lame...

OK, now I'm done, that thread made my day... lol lol lol

Dude, the whole article paints a misleading picture from start to finish and is filled with lies. The brothers claim to have all hit home runs during the season. Do you believe that? eek You think Michael hit home runs? Tito hit home runs? Marlon too? When the boys say "We were always the best at everything" that's clearly an arrogant statement, but the article says it's "not swellheaded, just the truth". That alone should tell you this is a puff piece.

To read this article you'd think the Jacksons spent all their time in the sunshine playing basketball and trampolining. The truth is they were WORKING all day every day and not getting on well at all, but this is a Motown approved piece, as all their press was in those days, so you get an idealized (and fabricated) picture instead. It was all an illusion. Motown would stage pictures of them playing pool and send them out to the media who were happy to go along selling the fairy tale. No-one should take this kind of article seriously. They were trained to lie about EVERYTHING! Just look at the hobbies Michael claims to have had back then. Everything from playing basketball to rock climbing. lol

And goodness knows he did NONE of that. lol Maybe a little ball but that's about it. And all of them hitting home runs? GET OUT OF HERE! evillol

lol They were a superhuman family. Joseph was a professor, Randy was already showing promise as a boxer, and Marlon's skills on the saxophone were second to none. wink

spit They DID try to project this image as a "perfect family" on Motown's (and afterwards) watch but of course when you erase the myth, you find a family who came out of nothing (Gary, Indiana), became somebody and was revealed to have as MANY problems in their own family as we have in our own daily lives. lol

Michael Jackson may have dabbled in piano and drums and percussion but I think his main talent was getting INSTRUMENTALISTS to understand what he wanted to hear. IMO, that's more important than trying to bring up fake PR stories to prove Michael Jackson plays instruments. lol

The Jacksons noodling...

Please this photo is posed! Its the same forced posed look as all of Michael's Instrument.

so funny, this guy has done 100's of 100's of maybe 1,000's of concert performances since the mid-late 1970's. No Footage, a Few Publicity Photos. Lets be honest here Michael hasnt even sang live most of the time either! Look at his Late Teen - Now, the guy has lip synced basically every single tv appearances. Forget the instruments, the guy really cant sing live either! He is basically a studio musican, who needs to sing in sections with re-do's.

Another funny thing is as an example is the "live" USA for Africa, everyone just showed up and did their parts. One or a few takes. Everyone except Michael, he was the only one to do his over & over and that footage we see in the video is him lip syncing.

The guy is really all smoke & mirrors. A house of cards that has basially fallen.

You mean to tell us you don't think Marlon can really play the saxophone? sad

Let be honest, you are so dishonest... hahahahaha

No way Prince can sing like that without his falsetto, MJ has a much more powerful voice, he doesn't need his falsetto to shine:

Oh really ???

Michael could already perform, sing and dance like no one before Prince did even know how to make babies, give me a break...

Scary talented... Was Prince able to do at that age ???
