The same old silly argument about Mj playing instruments, what if mj can't even play a single instrument? Does that make him less of a genuis, you guys can say whatever you want about Mj but its disgusting and silly to question his talent ...enough is enough.

some you guys could go on and on forever to degrade any aspect of Mj's life whether its about his personal life or music....No one can say anything about Mj's music so some of you play the playing instrument card just to show that mj is not a real artist ...its really annoying ...and let me just say that Mj can play some isntruments , he is not a professional at them but he can play, deal with it.

Actually most of us don't think he's any less a genius for not playing an instrument. We just don't believe in making illogical assumptions. To assume Michael can play, just because of some still photographs is silly. I may as well assume that Whitney or Diana Ross can play just because they've been in the business a long time. It's silly.

Yeah, you don't have to play instruments to be a musical genius - sure I think it helps, but Michael's genius was in his vocals, his dancing, and the way he was able to come up with melodies, harmonies and arrangements. That's HIS genius. That's why this whole question about MJ and instruments is actually kinda silly.

being familiar with one or two instruments provides you musical integrity. but the best piano player alive today may not have the talent of writing beautiful songs as someone who can't play an instrument properly like MJ!

Exactly, Mike is a great singer and dancer. Why can't MJ fans just accept that instead of making up stuff.

Are you missing the point on purpose or what? I said with all the videos and stuff you can find on YouTube (and other free video sites) you would think someone, somewhere would have posted a video --not a picture of him holding one or sitting in front of one-- but a actual video of MJ playing an instrument.

Prove me wrong by posting a VIDEO of him actually playing an instrument LIVE either in concert or in a recording studio. And no, hearsay of him being able to play doesn't count. I want to see and hear him playing drums, keyboards, guitar, horns, violin, or something-- LIVE.

Excuse me but are you dumb ??? eek

My friend, your ARGUMENT IS PLAIN stupid, it's like saying prove me that James Brown can play drums by posting a VIDEO...

How can people be so retarded...

There are a lot of artists that can play various instrument but never perform on stage...

So because you don't find any video on youtube, so you conclude that MJ can't play instruments ???

lol

So I was correct, you are on drugs and you are missing the point on purpose. lol

Oh common, it's clear to anybody who knows how to play piano that Timberlake is a beginner pianist at best...

Just because he knows few chords makes him a pianist...

I never said he was advanced. I said he has some basic ability. Just like you say Michael has basic ability on some instruments. The difference is, I've seen Timberlake play enough to verify that he has that ability. I haven't seen any evidence to back up your claims for Michael though. You claimed some people have said he can play. I asked you to name them. You fell strangely silent. lol I asked you to produce (or even paraphrase) these elusive quotes. You fell strangely silent. I am still holding my breath, waiting for you to rock my world with these revelatory quotes. lol

My friend, because you seem to have a hard problem of "understanding" I'm gonna put that way

I don't know if Michael Jackson has basic ability on some instruments, I've never seen him play instruments in front of me...

The difference is there are some folks right there who assume that MJ can't play instruments by taking atrociuos stupid arguments (he never plays on stage, never seen video on Youtube...etc)...

I'm sorry to repeat again there are TON of ARTISTS WHO CAN PLAY INSTRUMENTS IN THE MUSIC INDURSTY but refuse to perform on stage for various reasons...

But if, like some people argue, MJ can't play anything at all... Why do we find SO MANY pictures of MJ at various age playing instruments ????

Taking the fact that he got several brothers that play instruments, that he's been around musicians all his life, that he is credited playing instruments on his albums, and also the fact that there are ton of pictures of him playing instruments at different age.... all that make me think that probably, I said PROBABLY because he got some skills...

If not, What's the point ???

Why all these pictures of him playing instruments through his life if he can't do nothing at all ???

I've never seen an artist who can't play nothing having so many pictures of playing instruments???

It's about intelligence, it's about common sense... Something that a lot of folks lack...

So you've admitted that you're just ASSUMING he can "probably" play because you've seen some photographs of him with instruments. Well, ask yourself, if there were all these photographers around when Michael had those pictures taken, how come there was never anyone there with a video camera? Remember, posing with an instrument is just that..... posing. If there were any footage, we would have seen it by now.

How comes not a single producer who worked with Michael has ever mentioned him playing an instrument? Quincy worked with him for 10 years and has never once said Mike can play anything. Don't you think he would have mentioned that by now? Don't you think Teddy Riley, Bill Bottrell, or Rodney Jerkins would have mentioned it by now? These people spent hundreds of hours in the studio with him. If he could play, they would know about it, and would have mentioned it. As for the credits on BOTDF and Invincible they are very vague. They most likely just mean beat-boxing, finger clicks and MIDI instruments on the computer (which requires no instrumental ability).

And let me repeat, even if an artist doesn't play instruments on stage there is usually some documentary or interview footage of them playing somewhere. For instance I've seen Britney Spears and even boy band members play, but never Michael. Taking all this into account, it would be extremely naive to presume he can play just because of some still photographs, but if it makes you happy to believe that, then don't let me ruin your fun.

Watch it now, I made this point 15 or so posts ago and was told that my reasoning made no sense because I suggested such concrete proof would have surely shown up on the web via YouTube or other type of video service by now.

I love it when singers not known for playing instruments get into the spirit of doing just that - playing instruments. I got Marvin's Montreux set and he was doing a little percussion battle with his drummer, his playing was nothing to write about it either but I'd be lying if I say what MARVIN was doing didn't make me wanna dance! lol He was a better keyboardist though. nod

FIRST of all, I DON'T ADMIT NOTHING, EVERYTHING I SAY IS WHAT I'VE ALREADY ALWAYS SAID SINCE MY FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD...

BUT SOME FOLKS RIGHT THERE ARE READY TO STATE THAT MJ CAN'T PLAY NOTHING WHILE THERE ARE ENOUGH ELEMENTS TO THINK THE OPPOSITE...

And you argument are extraodinary dumb... Just because there is no video camera doesn't mean he was posing...

There are A TON OF PICTURES OF MJ actually caught up playing, not posing... The few pictures of MJ posing are those from magazines and album covers, but there are ton of pictures of him actually playing... A LOT...

MJ has been credited playing instruments ON his albums...

Your argument is absolutely lame, just because his producers didn't mention that he can play instruments means that HE CAN'T PLAY INSTRUMENTS, the same way HAVE YOU EVER HEARD ANY OF HIS PRODUCERS STATING THAT HE CAN'T PLAY NOTHING ???

Your argument makes NO SENSE

Completely stupid...

NOPE, NOT TRUE YOU DON'T FIND DOCUMENTARY, OR INTERVIEW OF EVERY SINGLE ARTIST WHO CAN PLAY INSTRUMENTS ARTIST SOMEWHERE... I would love to see James Brown playing drums, I would love to see Stevie wonder playing bass, I would to see Philip playing organ... And I can go on and on...

The matter of fact, A lot of artists in the music industry can play don't perform their instruemnst ... Who knew that Michael Jackson's brother Marlon Jackson could play instruments, have you ever seen him play on stage, is there any footage somewhere ?

And please you didn't answer the questions, tell me why so MANY pictures of MJ playing instrument through ALL HIS LIFE if he can't do nothing ??

You can find A LOT of pictures of MJ playing instruments since the early 70's, Do you think that IN ALL THESE PICTURES, he was posing ????
What IS THE POINT OF THESE PICTURES, WHAT IS THE MATTER OF ALL THESE PICTURES IF HE CAN'T PLAY INSTRUMENTS AT ALL ????

Watch it now, I made this point 15 or so posts ago and was told that my reasoning made no sense because I suggested such concrete proof would have surely shown up on the web via YouTube or other type of video service by now.

This argument is dumb because you don't find everything on YOUTUBE...

Do you find Prince playing piano on Youtube ??? lol

Basing your argument on what you find or don't find on Youtube is lame...

I think the point isn't YouTube specifically, but a guy who's lived his life in the public eye as much as Michael, it's odd that nobody's actually seen him play anything and there's no real evidence that he does.

There are A TON OF PICTURES OF MJ actually caught up playing, not posing... The few pictures of MJ posing are those from magazines and album covers, but there are ton of pictures of him actually playing... A LOT...

How the hell would you know if he was really playing from a still photograph? You could take a picture of me blowing into a saxophone, but whether I was really playing, or just blowing random notes, you would not be able to tell from a still photograph. Duh!! I've seen pictures of Joss Stone looking absorbed at the mixing desk, but it doesn't mean she knows what all those knobs are for

I don't know if James can really play drums, but I know he could play keys. I don't know if Stevie can play bass, but I know he can play drums. I've seen proof, and have heard testimony. Still waiting for anything to substantiate your MJ assumptions though.

What's the point of the pictures? Well, I don't know, maybe to make himself look like a "real" musician. If you read former CBS boss Walter Yetnikoff's bio, he paints a vivid picture of how vain Michael was. He even tried to get Quincy's name taken off the Grammy nominations for Best Producer for Thriller. He was afraid people would think it was all Quincy's work. That's the way he is. You should know that by now. wink

Nope, my friend there's a difference between playing and posing, there have been ton of pictures posted on Prince.org, ask all the MJ fans to post all these pictures...

And what is the point of taking so MANY pictures FAKING playing instruments if he can't instruments all through the 70's ????

Since he was a kid ???

That's my question ??? For what ???

That makes no sense...

If he can't play instruments at all, why does he have SO MANY PICTURES ALL THROUGH your life playing instruments...
That makes NO SENSE...

Do you think that in all these pictures think he was faking ???

Stevie can play bass, he has peformed several times on stage playing bass... But I've never seen him by myself...

Still waiting to explain why MJ has so MANY pictures playing instruments if he can't play instruments...

Most of the pictures of MJ playing instruments are from when he was A FUCKING KID !!!!! IN THE EARLY 70's... And most of the pictures of MJ playing instruments look like mostly home photos... Nothing calculated...

And you want to compare MJ from the early 70's to MJ from the the Thriller era when he was an adult and was controlling his career ???

Pff... Pathetic...

lol

You try too hard to deny the obvious...

Dude, like I told you before. Michael could have just been noodling at the piano. Maybe just seeing if he could make any sense of it. The point is, you would not be able to tell from a picture, so to ASSUME he is actually playing rather than just tinkering about is silly.

Let me emphasize, there is a difference between tinkering about randomly and actually playing. There is no evidence that he can play.

It's not FROM A PICTURE, It's FROM MANY PICTURES ... There are ton of pictures... All through the 70's and some beyond...

I don't see the point of MJ having so many pictures playing instruments, if all he can do is noodling ???

What's the point ???
